00:00Google Pixel 7 versus Google Pixel 7a.
00:04In this video, I'm going to compare them in every single way possible to find out which
00:09one of them is the better phone.
00:11As always, we're going to start by talking a little bit about prices, where as you can
00:16see, there is a noticeable difference between the two phones.
00:19The Google Pixel 7 is much more expensive, which will make sense because it is a better
00:25phone.
00:26I'm not sure if it is that much better to justify this big of a price difference.
00:31But anyways, let's move on to the design.
00:33A feature that, at least at a first glance, is pretty much identical in both phones.
00:39They both have the same shapes, the same colors, the same style, and if I were to show you
00:43both six feet apart from your eyes, it would be impossible to tell them apart.
00:49But that being said, of course, they are not identical.
00:53There is a big difference in construction quality between the two because the Pixel
00:577 is built out of aluminum and glass, which makes it feel very good in your hands, and
01:02the Pixel 7a is built out of plastic.
01:06Very cheap feeling plastic.
01:09Most people don't care.
01:10I know most people are going to put a case on the phone so, you know, the materials used
01:15to build the phone become irrelevant because they're not going to feel them in their hands.
01:18But for that small group of people, like me, who like to touch the phone naked and
01:24feel the materials, we're geeks, we like these things, then the Pixel 7 is a way better option
01:31because it does feel a lot better in your hands.
01:34But anyways, let's move on to the juicy part of this comparison.
01:37Let's talk about the processor, which, funny enough, is the exact same one in both phones.
01:43They both have the G2 chip, which is the latest and greatest processor made by Google for
01:48Google phones, and that is a big leap forward as opposed to the old G1 chip from last year.
01:55Although, everything said, if we compare it to the other processors in the competition,
02:01you can see it lacks a little bit more than it should.
02:04For everyday tasks and to play 3D games, it is more than enough, and there won't be any
02:09situations where you find yourself limited by the phone's performance, but undeniably,
02:14it is very far behind the Apple alternative and the Samsung alternative, which maybe will
02:22not be noticeable right now, but in a couple of years, when apps become more demanding,
02:27games become more demanding, the OS becomes more demanding, then you will probably notice
02:32a big difference between the Pixel 7 and the 7a and the other alternatives from the competition.
02:38But anyways, let's keep talking about the differences.
02:41The Google Pixel 7a has a 90Hz OLED display with a slightly above 1080p resolution, and
02:48the Pixel 7 has a 90Hz OLED display with a slightly above 1080p resolution, the same
02:54specs, although it is a little bit smaller at 6.1 inches.
02:59The only real difference between the two is that the Pixel 7 has a slightly stronger glass
03:05in the front panel than the 7a.
03:08It is not huge, it is not a deal breaker, but technically, if you drop both phones,
03:14the Pixel 7 is a little bit more likely to survive the drop than the Pixel 7a.
03:19What has in fact surprised me a lot is that the Pixel 7a, despite having the exact same
03:25display technically and the same processor, doesn't have the same battery life as the
03:31Pixel 7.
03:32As you can see here, it gets a little bit better results, around 5% more to be precise,
03:37which sure, it is a small difference that may be due to external factors like the 5G modem, or the internet connection, the software update, but it is a noticeable existing difference, and if you're interested on having the best battery life possible, it is something you should probably consider.
03:54And well, that being said, let's move on to the most important part of this comparison,
04:00the cameras.
04:01Which are cameras that, when it comes to the exterior design, look practically identical,
04:06and they both have about the same megapixel count, but that are not the same.
04:11There is a big difference between these two cameras that Google doesn't want to talk about
04:15too much, but that makes a very big difference in terms of picture quality, and it's that
04:20the Pixel 7 has a bigger sensor, both on the main camera and on the ultrawide camera, which
04:26means a lot of good things.
04:27It means that more light gets into the sensor, that there's bigger pixels, so there's more
04:32sharpness and colors are more accurate, and there's more shallow depth of field, more
04:37bokeh effect.
04:38But anyway, so that being said, let's begin, as always, by talking about the main camera
04:42on these two phones.
04:43As always, I'm going to show you pictures, the same picture on both phones, with some
04:46nice background music, zooming in so you can see the details, and then I'll come back to
04:51give you my conclusions about the differences, and which one is better, and how better it
04:55is.
04:56Let's go.
05:27And there it is.
05:57Very, very big differences between these two cameras.
06:00As you saw, the Pixel 7 was, as I said before, better in terms of colors, has more depth
06:06of field, has more sharpness, and overall, the pictures look a little bit better.
06:10On the Pixel 7a, everything looks a little bit more blend, kind of like a 2016 phone.
06:16Everything is like flat.
06:17There's no depth, there's no bokeh, there's no punchiness in the colors, which are things
06:22that we see on the Pixel 7.
06:24But anyways, let's move on to the ultrawide camera, which is the one that I'm using to
06:27record this video, because this one also has a bigger sensor on the Pixel 7, but it
06:32is not, proportionally, not as big of a difference as the one we saw on the main sensor, so the
06:37differences are probably not going to be as big, but let's find out.
06:41Let's go.
07:11Okay, okay, that was exactly what I was expecting.
07:38Similar differences, but differences nonetheless, as you saw, it also has better colors, it
07:43also has a little bit, a little bit more depth of field, and it is visually sharper.
07:49That is, I think, the biggest difference that I've noticed, is that the Pixel 7 is very
07:53sharp, it is very, very sharp, and the Pixel 7a is so, so sharp, but not as much.
07:59As you can see, I'm recording right now with the selfie camera, selfie camera on both phones,
08:03which is practically identical.
08:04This is the camera where I've seen the least differences between the two.
08:09It is, it is almost undistinguishable, and it makes sense, because they both have the
08:14same, I think it's not the same sensor, but it's the same size, so yeah, it is correct,
08:18it is the same, it is the same.
08:20If you just want to take selfies, doesn't matter, but if you want to take photos or
08:24videos with the main sensor, or the ultrawide sensor, then as you saw earlier, it does make
08:29sense for you to buy the Pixel 7, as opposed to the 7a.
08:33So yeah, summarizing, the Pixel 7 has better materials, a better display, and better cameras,
08:39but it is also noticeably more expensive.
08:42I think at the end of the day, it all comes down to the cameras.
08:45That is the biggest difference between these two phones, and that's what's going to make
08:48some people go for the 7 and the 7a.
08:51If you want prime quality Google Pixel cameras, camera quality, pictures, videos, you should
08:59go for the Pixel 7.
09:00But, if you want a Google Pixel phone because you want the clean Android experience, and
09:06you don't really care that much about the cameras, maybe the 7a is a better option.
09:10It is noticeably cheaper, and besides the camera, there's not that big of a difference.
09:14In fact, the 7a has a slightly better battery life.
09:17Whatever you do, doesn't matter, they're both amazing phones, and they both have very, very,
09:22very, very good prices on Amazon.
09:25I left direct links in the description, and I highly recommend you click those links because
09:30those prices are insane.
