Investigation finds car brands are collecting and sharing data with third parties
An investigation by consumer advocacy group choice has revealed most of the popular car brands are collecting and sharing driver data. The research found companies harvest details - ranging from braking patterns to video footage and share that information with third parties. While customers are able to opt-out of data collection, they are often automatically opted-in when buying a vehicle or downloading a car's app. Privacy and consumer advocates want the law changed to limit data collection to what's fair and reasonable.
