00:00Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Now we have
00:07a significant anniversary coming up in Brighton as Cartoonists and Animators Modern Toss are
00:12marking 20 years and they're doing so as part of Brighton Dome's inaugural comedy festival.
00:19And absolutely right that you should do this in Brighton because Brighton gave birth to
00:22Modern Toss, didn't it? That's right, yeah. We started off in 2004 with many of the local shops
00:31taking our first comic and we've done loads in Brighton, different exhibitions and filming and
00:39everything, yeah. And you were suggesting you couldn't now take off in the way that you did
00:44then, just by going round the comic and saying, do you want to sell this? Yeah, I think it's
00:50changed now a lot. When we started, you could walk into a shop with a box of comics and say,
00:57do you want some of these? And if you try that now, they'd probably call the police.
01:03And does it seem like 20 years or you've been working together, 30, but officially it's 20,
01:08isn't it? 20 years, I'd say it probably does feel like 20 years, yeah.
01:15Yeah, quite tired at the moment, but looking forward to getting the exhibition
01:22done on the 25th and then, yeah. Fantastic. And go on, say it, what was the biggest achievement
01:29of those 20 years? I'd probably say the, I mean, quite a recent one really, getting our periodic
01:40getting our periodic table of swearing done as a choral piece with the Jam Tarts Indie Choir.
01:49So they're a 60-piece choir and they're going to be singing all 102 elements of our periodic
01:56table of swearing on the dome main stage to kick the live event off on Saturday the 26th.
02:04Ah, that'd be fantastic. I was setting you up to say the biggest achievement, you're saying,
02:08is to have avoided having got a proper job in all that time.
02:12That's true, yeah. That is the, sorry, yeah. Can I just put the choir down as the second biggest
02:17achievement? So the biggest achievement is having avoided having a proper job for all this 20 years.
02:28Brilliant. Well, here's to the next 20 years. John,
02:30lovely to speak to you and congratulations on the ministry. Thank you.
02:35Thanks, Phil.
