00:00And the team for IGEM 2024, Race Towards Net Zero, Regional Leadership for Climate Agency,
00:13it reminds us that sustainability is a shared responsibility.
00:18If Malaysia becomes sustainable, but the rest of the world does not, then we have no chance
00:23of surviving.
00:24If we are not sustainable, and the other countries are, also the world does not have a chance
00:31to survive.
00:32So that is why the world is looking at governments, businesses, innovators, and civil society
00:37to lead with purpose, urgency, and a sense of collective responsibility.
00:43We do not own this world, we inherit it from the previous generations, and we have to pass
00:48it on, just as the way we received it, or even better, to the future generations.
00:54And I believe Malaysia is well positioned to be at the forefront of this transformation.
00:58But the government alone cannot make those changes.
01:01We need partnerships with the private sector, with you, the exhibitors here today, to drive
01:06and lead this meaningful change, to make that systemic changes.
01:10So IGEM is important because it provides a unique space where governments and industry
01:15players can engage directly, building bridges that turn ideas into actions and investments
01:21into impact.
01:22Gatherings such as IGEM, where ideas and innovations flow freely, provide a platform
01:26for us to unite and tackle these challenges head on.
01:29By joining forces, we can turn obstacles into stepping stones and drive the profound change
01:35our planet desperately requires.
01:38Malaysia has made significant strides in green technology.
01:41In last year's IGEM alone, we achieved more than five billion ringgit worth of business
01:46leads, again emphasizing IGEM's importance as the platform for sustainable development
01:52in the region.
01:53However, there's still much work to be done.
01:56IGEM 2024 offers an excellent opportunity to spotlight our ongoing initiatives and demonstrate
02:01how we synchronize our national development aspirations with the global sustainability
02:07agenda.
02:08We pledge to achieve net zero by 2050.
02:13This is significant because previously we were talking about as early as 2050, but now
02:19we are putting a firm target, and for a middle-income country, this is an ambitious target.
02:24Recognizing the ongoing trends in technology and innovation, we are broadening our scope
02:28this year with two groundbreaking additions, focusing on the corpulence of green technologies
02:33and sustainable development, the Clean Energy Transition Asia Setup Summit and Mobility
02:39Acts exhibition.
02:41Our primary interest is to adopt and adapt these changes, ensuring that the exhibition
02:46serves as a platform to all stakeholders, business leaders, government ministries, agencies,
02:52state governments, high commissions and embassies abroad, universities, start-ups and non-profit
02:57organizations.
02:58Eight countries will take part in the exhibition, offering visitors an exciting lineup of activities,
03:04and attendees can anticipate engaging conference sessions, thought-provoking panel discussions,
03:09showcases, intimate pocket talks, product launches and the signing of new partnerships.
