00:00Hello, this is Jason Jones, football writer from the Sunderland Echo. Here's a quick
00:05round-up of the Sunderland stories that you might have missed over the past couple of
00:09days.
00:10Sunderland have announced the appointment of a new assistant head coach. Pedro Ribeiro
00:13joins Regis Le Brissas' backroom staff and arrives on Wearside Boston in impressive CV.
00:18He's previously been the assistant at a whole host of European clubs, including the likes
00:22of Fenerbahce, FC Porto and Olympiacos. In recent years, he's made the move into first
00:28team management himself and indeed was lined up for a role in the Portuguese 3rd Division
00:34before ultimately seeing that deal collapse so that he could complete a move to the Stadium
00:38of Light.
00:39Elsewhere, Sunderland legend Kevin Phillips has got himself a new managerial job. The
00:43Black Cats icon will be taken over at non-league AFC Fylde. Phillips has been out of work since
00:48he left Hartlepool United earlier this year and Sunderland confirmed that he will be taking
00:52academy coach Wes Brown with him as his assistant.
00:57A new Sunderland signing Aaron Connolly played his first minutes in red and white earlier
01:00this week. The Republic of Ireland striker got himself on the scoresheet for Graeme Murty's
01:05under-21s in a 6-0 thrashing of Derby County. The other goals in that game came from Nazaree
01:10Roosan, a Tommy Watson brace, Jenson Jones and a Caden Kelly penalty.
01:15And finally, Sunderland's women will host Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light on
01:19Sunday afternoon. The match is expected to set an attendance record for the women's championship
01:23with more than 12,000 fans having already bought tickets. It will be the first time
01:27that the two local rivals have faced off against each other since Newcastle were promoted to
01:31the championship at the end of last season.
