00:26Now that the filing of the COC for those who have signed up for the 2025 elections is over,

00:32when do you expect the screening for these candidates to end?

00:36And what are the considerations of COMELEC in the screening of the COC?

00:43Before the end of this month, around October 29,

00:47COMELEC will release on our website the initial list of candidates who have filed for the COC.

00:55However, this does not mean that if your name is there, you will be the last candidate in the upcoming elections.

01:03Let us remember, this month of October, we will receive different types of cases,

01:09such as the petition to cancel or deny due or to the COC of those who question their qualification,

01:15such as age, being a Filipino citizen, residency, literacy requirement, and being a registered voter.

01:22Here, we expect that those who question their disqualification,

01:28such as those who have a perpetual disqualification in court,

01:32or those who violate the laws and regulations that may cause disqualification.

01:38And you can expect that within 5 days,

01:41the COMELEC Law Department will file a petition to declare a nuisance candidate

01:47to the candidates that we have seen that they do not know their position.

01:53They have no true or bona fide intention to run for the election.

01:58They will just make trouble in the election.

02:00They will put into mockery the election process and above all,

02:03those who have bad intentions, confuse the voters,

02:06and steal votes from the black candidates because they will use the same name.

02:13Director, it is also not allowed to declare a nuisance candidate

02:17even though there is no financial capacity nationwide according to the Supreme Court.

02:29It is clear that our Supreme Court has declared that in the next two cases,

02:34Norma Romárquez v. Colón,

02:37it is not allowed to declare a nuisance candidate even though there is no financial capacity.

02:48not because they are not well-known in the society,

02:51they will immediately become a nuisance candidate.

02:57of whether the candidate really has a bona fide intention.

03:42Here in AS-IS, we have received 184 certificates of candidacy for the senator.

03:50This is the highest in recent years because in 2019,

03:53we only received 153.

03:56For the 2022 elections, we received 176,

04:00and as you can see now, 184.

04:02This is the highest number of COCs hired.

04:05For the party list, we have hired 190 certificates of nomination and acceptance.

04:12Compared to the previous elections,

04:14this has decreased a bit because in the 2022 national and local elections,

04:19we hired 270 candidates.

06:30So, let's wait for the commitment of Chairman Garcia and the Commission and Bank.

06:34All of the cases that we will receive will be resolved this month of October at the division level.

06:42And if there is still an appeal to the Commission and Bank by a motion for reconsideration,

06:47it will be finished by November.

06:50By December, the list of candidates that will not be able to obtain a temporary restraining order from the Supreme Court is final.

06:58We will be able to remove them from the list and we will be able to print ballots.

07:04Last time, how many senatorial candidates will we have?

07:19COMELEC will ensure that all of the no-wisense candidates will be removed.

08:11The resolution of COMELEC has been released and it has been decided that the COMELEC Law Department has adopted a recommendation

08:18to file a material misrepresentation case against former Mayor Alice Guo.

08:24This is because of his lie to his COC that we know that he was accused.
