00:00Hi there, I'm Philip Fleming. I'm Dean of Durham, which means I oversee the life and mission of Durham Cathedral.
00:05And we're here for the opening of Lux Moralis tonight. What can people expect from this year's theme?
00:10Well, the theme for this year's Lux Moralis is space.
00:13And what you can expect when you come into Durham Cathedral is to see it like you've never seen it before.
00:17You can see the stars of the galaxies projected, but also amazing stories about what has happened in terms of humankind's exploration of space.
00:26And get a real sense that you're outside, but also in this incredible place of wonder and beauty.
00:31And for those who haven't seen Lux Moralis in previous years, it really transforms the cathedral, doesn't it?
00:36It's an amazing experience, really. It's a way like you've never seen a cathedral before.
00:41All the pews are gone. You can walk around at your own pace and explore different corners.
00:46But it's an amazing experience this year because for centuries, people looked up at the stars and thought, who made all this?
00:52Well, Durham Cathedral and Lux Moralis brings that together.
00:55And this is the latest in a series of artworks that you've had here, and it's really bringing more visitors through the doors, isn't it?
01:02Yeah, that's right. At Durham Cathedral, we want to welcome everybody in and give them an opportunity to experience and encounter God in new ways.
01:10And have a fantastic time as families.
01:12And so we're just hoping that all the thousands of people who come over the next few days are just going to have a brilliant time.
01:18And also be invited to wonder, to reflect and to explore in new ways.
