00:00This is the 2024 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 Ultimate, and it is a serious middleweight
00:08ATV.
00:09It's aimed squarely at people who want to take long trail rides on the weekend and use
00:12the rig around their property during the week.
00:15We've been bopping around a Virginia farm on the 570 for the past couple days, and we're
00:19going to tell you five things we love about it, five things we hate about it, and then
00:22take a look at who it's for.
00:23But first, the basics.
00:24The Touring 570 is a two-seat version of Polaris's well-established middleweight Sportsman 570
00:29line.
00:30The Sportsman's also available in 450cc configurations and 850cc configurations, which means the
00:36570 occupies that Goldilocks middle ground.
00:39The Sportsman 570 has 44 horsepower from a Polaris ProStar single, and it puts that power
00:44to the ground through a PVT automatic transmission.
00:47The 570 is available in a bunch of trims from bare-bones basic to fully loaded, and this
00:53one is the latter.
00:55This is the Ultimate model.
00:57That means you get ride command, you get luggage racks, you get a 3,500-pound winch,
01:01you get special paint, you get red springs, you get alloy wheels.
01:05There's also power steering, engine braking control, and drive modes.
01:10And for all that, Polaris wants $1,499 for the machine behind me.
01:14So now it's time to get down to brass tacks.
01:17What are five things we love and five things we hate?
01:19Let's jump right in with things we love.
01:22The first thing we love is this 7-inch ride command display.
01:25Now you've heard us go over ride command thousands and thousands of times, but it is
01:29particularly well-executed here.
01:31It's right up front, it's easily visible, and it's easy to reach when you want it.
01:35But even though it's easy to see and easy to reach, it's not in your face when you need
01:39to look down the trail at the terrain.
01:41It's super easy to pull your eyes up off the ride command and look at the trail, or take
01:45your eyes off the trail and check out the ride command to make sure you know where your
01:48buddies are, to make sure you know where you are, and to keep track of the machine's vital
01:52functions.
01:53It's really great.
01:54Number two, we are in love with these luggage racks.
01:57There are one, two, three, four, five, and six tie-down points, which means you pull
02:04this thing onto your trailer and there's no guessing where your straps go.
02:07They're right here, front and center.
02:09They also make strapping down gear when you're out bouncing around a no-brainer.
02:13Whether it's a cooler, a couple of five-gallon buckets, or you're moving a tree stand around,
02:18there's no guessing about where to strap it down on the Sportsman 570.
02:21The luggage racks lead us to thing number three.
02:24This thing is huge.
02:26That big single might be a middleweight engine, but this is a big ATV.
02:31That means there's a massive amount of room to strap down and stow your stuff.
02:35Now, there's not just racks.
02:37There are generous storage containers under the front and rear, and the pack of this rack
02:42is molded to accept five-gallon buckets.
02:44In fact, I think the racks on this thing are big enough to get a whitetail on the front
02:48and the back if hunting season goes the way you want it to.
02:51Thing number four.
02:52This whole passenger area is fantastic.
02:55Now, notice I didn't say passenger seat, and that's because the entire area for your two-up
03:02is really well done.
03:03The passenger area has these really beefy, grippy floorboards and these little grippy
03:08foam pieces, so if your passenger needs to lean back to get out of your way or keep the
03:12machine on balance, it's really easy and comfortable to do that.
03:15And then there is the seat itself.
03:17First of all, it's giant.
03:19Second of all, it's super comfortable.
03:20Third, it has these awesome grab handles to keep you secure when you're riding on the
03:24back of it.
03:25And then finally, it comes off with one hand and no tools.
03:28Check this out.
03:30Suddenly, my two-up rig just got a whole lot more utilitarian.
03:36Thing number five.
03:37There are three options for plugging in accessories right under the ride command.
03:42You've got a 12-volt adapter for like a regular cigarette lighter plug.
03:46You've got an SAE plug, so if you wanted to plug in a battery tender or heated gear, it's
03:50right here on the dashboard.
03:51And then finally, if your iPhone's a little low on charge, you've got a USB port right
03:56under the ride command, and you can plug in to the ride command from your phone.
03:59Slick.
04:00So those are the five things we love about it, but now the part you've all been waiting
04:03for, five things we hate about it, and number one is right here in the cockpit.
04:09This thing has fewer than five miles on it, and the brakes are spongy.
04:12The front brake feels okay, but especially the rear brake, I have to put my whole 190
04:16pounds on it if I want to bring this thing down with authority.
04:20It would be great if I didn't have to say that, but it's a legitimate gripe.
04:24This is a big machine.
04:25It needs to slow down.
04:26Okay, the second thing we hate about it is also in the cockpit.
04:30It's this four-wheel drive switch.
04:32It's just too small, and it's not super intuitive to use.
04:35Not only that, it's right in a place where if you're moving around on the trail, you
04:38might accidentally bump it and switch yourself out of four-wheel drive.
04:41Our solution to that would be put a separate button somewhere or just give us a traditional
04:45lever like old ATVs used to have.
04:48The passenger seat can feel a little wobbly, and we've found that it doesn't always clip
04:52back into place on the first try.
04:53It's super nice that it can be easily removed, but we've found a couple of times this weekend
04:58we've had to put our whole weight on it to get it to clip back into place.
05:01Now number four is tricky because it's also something we love about it.
05:06It's the size again, folks.
05:07This thing is massive.
05:09Now that's rad if you've got a bunch of stuff to carry around, but it feels huge on the
05:14trail and it can honestly feel a little ungainly in technical terrain.
05:18This thing weighs 785 pounds dry.
05:22That means with fuel in it and some stuff on it, that 44 horsepower single really has
05:27its work cut out for it.
05:28The fifth and final thing we hate is the price.
05:32And yes, this thing has ride command and all the modulators and controls and engine brakes
05:38and alloy wheels and luggage racks that you can throw at it, but 15 grand is huge money.
05:43Now we get that the price of everything is going up and we have no doubt that Polaris
05:48will sell every one of these things that they build, but we really feel like we're starting
05:52to reach the pricing stratosphere when a middleweight ATV is 15,000 bucks.
05:58So there's the five things we love and the five things we hate about it, and now it's
06:01time to get down to who this machine is for.
06:04This ATV is for the person who needs a handy helper around a small property and then wants
06:09to get out on the weekends and go places and see things rather than go anywhere fast.
06:14This definitely isn't a sport machine, but we can see it being perfect for avid hunters
06:19who have a big lease and they don't want a whole UTV.
06:22It's also for the weekend worrier who wants to go camping and be a little bit more out
06:26in the elements than you are in a side-by-side.
06:28So that's the nitty gritty on the Polaris Sportsman Touring 570.
06:33Thank you so much for watching.
06:34And remember, we have a buyer's guide on this machine at ATVRider.com, and you can
06:39catch us five days a week at UTVDriver.com, where we've got news, reviews, and buyer's
06:44guides, and we're here on YouTube every couple of weeks.
06:47We'll see you there.
