Frank talks about heart disease awareness.
Transcript
00:00Heart disease is in our family. I saw one of my uncles lying in hospital in Brisbane
00:04and I saw the scar and I told Tammy, my wife, I said that's not happening to me.
00:12My name is Frank. I'm 51 years old. I live here in Roma. We have a plumbing business. We're plumbing
00:18contractors servicing the Maranoa region. I'd like to be able to have grandchildren at some stage
00:23too and be able to enjoy doing stuff with them. I decided to get a check-up. Doctor said that
00:28tests came back my cholesterol was through the roof. With my family history, if I didn't do
00:33anything about it I'd suffer from heart disease within five years. So I asked my doctor what I
00:38should be doing. So eat plenty of fruit and veg, exercise a lot. Within three months I halved my
00:44cholesterol rating. Being Indigenous is also a barrier so we need to do the right things while
00:49we still can while we're younger so that we can have a good outcome for us later on in life.
00:54The best thing about out here is that there's open spaces. We have beautiful days. You can walk
00:59anywhere in this place. My why is to stay fit and healthy to enjoy time with my grandchildren.
