00:00So Life Flights Critical Care doctors, nurses and paramedics provide retrieval to communities
00:05across Queensland. So we look after patients either at the roadside or patients you know
00:11transferred between hospitals with all sorts of medical emergencies. We provide critical care
00:17in the air and make a significant difference to the lives of Queenslanders. Looking after
00:21patients in motor vehicle accidents at the roadside. So our critical care teams are trained
00:26in these medical emergencies and can do things like surgical procedures at the roadside,
00:31give blood, ultrasound patients in a remote environment and stabilise them and then
00:36transfer them to a major trauma centre. This has a major impact on people as it provides critical
00:42care much before the patients get into the hospital environment. With the geography of
00:46Queensland it's a massive state so the distances that we have to transfer are long. So for particular
00:51patients in rural and remote environments it can take a long time for them to get into a tertiary
00:56hospital. Critical care doctors, nurses and paramedics work as a mobile intensive care team
01:01so they bring definitive care to the patients. So for example we have all of the medications,
01:08the equipment, defibrillators and monitoring that you would have in a normal intensive care unit.
