00:00The government is ready for the mandatory repatriation of Filipinos who are in the war in Lebanon.
00:06Meanwhile, in the 11th OFW, the one who came to the country this weekend is Kenneth Paciente in Detail.
00:18The Department of Migrant Workers and other agencies of the government
00:24is concerned about the situation of overseas Filipino workers who are affected by the chaos in Lebanon.
00:29According to DMW Secretary Hans Leo Kakdak,
00:32despite the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,
00:36it is the use of all government resources and assets to save the OFWs.
00:42More than anything, it's the President's concern for our OFWs.
00:48The President has always been concerned for the welfare and security safety of our OFWs.
00:54So he deemed it the proper time to convene all of us
00:58and find ways to heighten or strengthen our approach in terms of securing the safety and security of our OFWs.
01:08According to the agency, 11 OFWs came to the country this weekend.
01:14As of now, 192 OFWs are booked for the three separate commercial flights
01:19that are expected to travel from Oct. 8 to Oct. 11.
01:23As of now, 413 OFWs are still being booked.
01:28However, there are still some Filipinos who don't want to leave Lebanon
01:32because they are afraid of losing their income.
01:34But according to the DMW,
01:36we have already addressed the matter on the loss of income that may incur if they come home.
01:44So the financial assistance that we're offering can go up as high as P150,000 between DMW and OFW upon arrival.
01:54That's good for a 4 to 6-month salary.
01:56179 OFWs are currently in shelters in Beirut
02:01where the government provides their needs such as food.
02:05OWA is currently looking for Filipinos who have been left behind in tents.
02:10If we can identify where these reports are of OFWs staying in tents,
02:17we will go to them and bring them to our shelters.
02:20As of now, the DMW is still waiting for a notice from the DFA
02:24if the alert level in Lebanon can be raised to level 4.
02:28And if this happens, they are ready to implement the mandatory repatriation.
02:33We stand ready. In fact, that might have been answered already.
02:42Your question might have been answered by the President's directives yesterday.
02:46So the President has heightened our engagement in terms of safely repatriating our OFWs out of Lebanon.
02:56So that would accommodate any situation.
03:02Until Oct. 8, 1721, the Philippine Embassy in Beirut received an application for repatriation.
03:09511 OFWs were repatriated.
03:13The Israeli warplanes in the southern part of Beirut were in the middle of a 30-air raid.
03:19No one was injured or injured in the attack by Israel.
03:24Kenneth Paciente for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
