00:00When it comes to Brandy, my only experience in the past before this trip to Armenia was
00:07sneaking some in a hip flask to take to a party when I was a teenager and all I remember
00:14was the burning sensation in my throat.
00:17So when we were told that as part of this World Congress on Innovation and Technology
00:22we'd be taking a trip to the Ararat Brandy factory, I was a bit sceptical.
00:28My previous experience with the drink was less than ideal but we got taken around the
00:34factory where they showed us how they make the brandy in Armenia.
00:40We also took a look around their vault with historic bottles stating some of them are
00:46about 100 years old which is pretty impressive.
00:49We saw how the barrels are made, why Armenian brandy is considered so good.
00:55We had a chance to try out three brandies of different ages starting with a 10 year
01:00old one, then a 15 year old one and a 20 year old one.
01:05The first one had that burn that you sort of get when you try brandy that I remembered
01:10from being a teenager but then it quickly smoothed out and became enjoyable but as it
01:16went on they became smoother and smoother and I have to say I think I might be a convert
01:21to brandy now.
