00:00I'm Lucinda Herbert, I'm a video journalist for National World Video. I started out as an
00:05apprentice working largely for print on the Blackpool Gazette newspaper, however I quickly
00:11realised that my skills and talents lied more within visual storytelling which led me towards
00:16my new role with the rapidly growing National World Video department. Since joining National
00:21World Video I've been fortunate to work on some documentaries about issues that really affect my
00:27community including knife crime, social media and mental health and the changing face of the
00:33high street. I'm here in Stanley Park because today I've been filming a short video package
00:40with a start-up business called The Wolf Truck, however yesterday was quite different because I
00:46was interviewing the neighbourhood policing team about burglaries and anti-social behaviour and
00:52e-bikes as part of a silent crime documentary. Journalism matters because aside from holding
01:01authority to account we're able to connect with and represent our communities. We're also able
01:08to influence change and campaign on issues that really matter to our viewers or readers.
01:14For example when I'm working on crime documentaries to me it is really really important
01:19that I empathise with the victims and through my work as a journalist to make
01:24sure I'm giving those victims a voice. That's why journalism matters.
