00:00G'day, I'm Paul. The all-new Isuzu D-MAX debuts a number of segment-first technologies in the infotainment system.
00:07So today we're going to do a detailed review of the 9-inch infotainment system
00:12you'll find in the new D-MAX and also the new BT50.
00:14I'll also run you through the screen ahead of the driver so you can see what each of those systems do. Now,
00:19we do have a stack of other videos on our channel,
00:21so make sure you check those out if you haven't yet. Also subscribe while you're here, but let's get stuck into this.
00:27Okay, so 9-inch infotainment screen. It's a touchscreen,
00:31it's full-color, and you have shortcut buttons down the bottom here, plus a voice recognition system.
00:37So when you don't have a phone paired, the voice recognition system allows you to interact with the car, and that means calling people and
00:42entering navigation destinations.
00:44But when you do have a phone paired, you can send commands through to the phone, and I'll run you through those in a second.
00:49So in terms of audio, you have AM, FM,
00:53DAB plus digital radio, the ability to stream through Bluetooth, and also your connected devices. Let's look at navigation next.
00:59So you have inbuilt satellite navigation,
01:01which means you can always access it, or you can run it through your telephone as well. Normal test
01:06I do here is to see how it responds to entry of destinations. We'll put in our go-to, which is
01:12ironically Melbourne Airport. So we'll try, I'll try this way where we go names. So I'll just type in Melbourne Airport.
01:18M-E-L-B-O-U-R-N-E, that's responding fairly quickly.
01:26Airport, and I'll hit search, see how long that takes.
01:30Searching, searching, searching.
01:33Cool, there it is. So all of our destinations are in there. It seems pretty quick as well. It actually doesn't look too bad.
01:39I like that. And then your settings menu is split into two sections, main and navigation, where you can go through and change
01:46all of the settings associated with the navigation. So I mentioned segment first earlier.
01:51This comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. So I'll show you what that looks like.
01:56This is Apple CarPlay. So it takes up the entire screen, and you can see here
02:02it's easy to swipe between those transitions, and it all looks nice and high tech.
02:07And the best part about this is you just get into the car, it connects on its own and you drive.
02:11The good news is you can use that voice recognition to send messages, play music, do whatever you need to do.
02:16So it's quite an intelligent setup. You still need to plug up for Android Auto,
02:20but same thing, you can forward voice commands through to the system. And this is what it looks like.
02:24There you go, full screen integration, and that works nice and fast as well. It's fairly seamless.
02:29Let's have a look at the screen in front of the driver.
02:31So the screen ahead of the driver gives you critical information such as the trip computer and car details and also your off-road modes.
02:38So I'll quickly walk you through it.
02:39You have two trip modes that show you your average fuel consumption and also how long you've been driving on that mode.
02:46Then you also have a
02:48indicator of how you're doing in terms of throttle response and how the fuel economy is going. You have a compass built in, very handy,
02:54just in case you get lost.
02:56Also importantly up the top there, a digital speedometer, and then of course you've got your fuel and then engine temperature on either side.
03:03Tells you your phone settings, the car's safety systems that you can switch off on the move.
03:08Then you also have the four-wheel-drive information.
03:10So as you traverse through different four-wheel-drive modes, all of that information will appear on here to make life a little easier. And
03:16finally, you have the settings for the car.
03:18So this is where you engage and disengage certain safety features and other things that are annoying you, and you're also able to set different
03:24timeouts for the lights and everything to do with the way the car works is done in that settings menu just there.
03:29So that has been a detailed review of the new Isuzu D-MAX and Mazda BT-50
03:35infotainment system. If you do want to watch a full review of this vehicle, including on-road, off-road and all that kind of stuff, click
