Tanker lorry enters opposite lane, catches fire on Elite Highway

A tanker lorry carrying a load of palm oil skidded, veered into the opposite lane, and caught fire in a crash involving three cars at KM44.6 of the Elite Highway northbound around noon on Saturday (Oct 12).

00:1344.6 of the elite highway northbound around noon on Saturday.
00:18Nilai District Police Chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said the tanker, driven
00:23by a 53-year-old local man, was en route from Jassin, Malacca to Klang, Selangor.
00:29The driver lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a Proton Saga in the right lane, causing
00:35it to spin and come to a halt in the middle of the highway.
00:38The tanker then hit the guardrail, crossed into the opposite lane and stopped in the
00:43emergency lane while still ablaze.
00:46Debris from the accident scattered across the highway and two vehicles travelling in
00:51the opposite direction were damaged after hitting the debris.
00:55Abdul Malik reported that the Proton Saga driver, a 21-year-old woman, sustained minor
01:02injuries and was taken to Twangku Jafar Hospital in Seremban for treatment.
01:07Others involved in the accident, including the lorry driver, were unharmed.
01:13The case is being investigated under section 43 sub section 1 of the Road Transport Act
01:191987.
