00:00Hello, welcome to your latest national weather updates from the Met Office.
00:04For many it's a fine day out there, dry and bright after a bit of a chilly start.
00:08Temperatures climbing into the teens, quite a bit of sunshine as you can see on the satellite image earlier.
00:13But there are three areas of cloud with some rain mixed in, all tied into weather fronts,
00:19kind of just milling around close to the UK.
00:22The one in the east is staying out east, but the one in the south just throwing up a few showers.
00:26And we've seen quite a wet start across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland this morning.
00:30That rain will slowly push into the far north-west of England,
00:34across central and southern Scotland during the day.
00:37So there will be a lot of cloud and rain here.
00:40Brightening up though in Northern Ireland, sunny spells for Wales and the Midlands,
00:43and much of southern England too, just one or two scattered showers across the south-east.
00:49Far north-east also mostly dry and fine with some sunshine.
00:53In that sunshine, temperatures just climbing up steadily.
00:56It was a chilly old start, but feeling quite pleasant by the afternoon.
00:5913, maybe 14 in one or two locations, where it stays dull and damp through the central belt of Scotland.
01:05Maybe just 8 or 9 for Glasgow and Edinburgh.
01:08That rain will creep its way to the north through the evening,
01:12so we'll see some rain arriving across Aberdeenshire, Caithness, Sutherland, up towards Orkney before it fizzles out.
01:18Still one or two scattered showers keeping going across south-east England and east Anglia overnight,
01:23but for many it will be dry.
01:25It will turn a bit chilly, just a hint of blue there on the charts, a pocket or two of frost.
01:30Certainly in rural parts of Wales, the Midlands, northern England, we'll see temperatures down to freezing.
01:36Towns and cities holding up at 2, 3, 4 Celsius.
01:39But we're also going to see things turning quite misty and murky in the south.
01:42Could even be a few dense patches of fog around through the early hours and into the morning.
01:47Shouldn't last too long, should be clearing away by 8 or 9 o'clock.
01:51But nevertheless, that mist and fog could be around in the morning, as I say, across the south.
01:55A zone of cloudier weather, perhaps over parts of the east Midlands, Lincolnshire up to east Yorkshire.
02:01But for many it's a cracking day on Tuesday, dry and bright with sunny spells.
02:06We will see the cloud thickening across Scotland, Northern Ireland.
02:09Rain coming into the west of Northern Ireland by the afternoon,
02:12on and off for much of the day over the Western Isles and creeping into the Highlands and the Northern Isles too.
02:17So quite wet in the northwest, but otherwise a fine, dry, bright day on Tuesday once that mist and fog has cleared.
02:24And although it will again be a chilly start, by the afternoon, temperatures more widely up into the teens, 13, 14.
02:30We could squeak a 16 with some sunshine across parts of the east.
02:35Again, cooler across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but still pleasant enough out of the rain.
02:39That rain now will start to encroach towards Belfast, towards Glasgow during Tuesday evening.
02:46It's a weather front, as you can probably tell, and it is pushing southwards.
02:49At the same time, a threat of a few more scattered showers coming up from the south.
02:54That is coming up from this warm front, which is bringing warm air to clash with this weather front.
02:59That could bring some heavy rain in places on Wednesday.
03:04Difficult to say exactly where, but we could see quite a wet spell on Wednesday for a time.
03:09But once that's out of the way, it should scoot off during Wednesday night into Thursday.
03:14High pressure starts to build in.
03:17So apart from a bit of showery rain across the north on Thursday, it's looking like high pressure moving in for Friday
03:23and lasting into the weekend, bringing a lot of dry and fine weather.
03:28Plenty to talk about then over the next few days, the weather chopping and changing a little bit.
