Transcript
00:00Welcome to your latest national weather from the Met Office.
00:03A bit of a north-south split today,
00:05with southern areas generally fine and sunny.
00:07Further north, some sunny spells, but quite a few showers
00:10as well.
00:11Yesterday's rain, this massive cloud
00:14has cleared away into the near continent.
00:16We've had a line of showers zipping through Scotland
00:18and into northern England.
00:20And there's another one following,
00:21and that line of showers in particular
00:23containing some quite heavy showers,
00:25with even a few thunderstorms mixed in.
00:27The odd shower over northern England
00:29spreading south through parts of Wales,
00:31but tending to ease off as it sinks southwards,
00:34that first line of showers.
00:35And actually, the showers clearing from Northern Ireland,
00:37so mostly here dry and sunny through the afternoon.
00:39The showers over the mountains of Scotland
00:41having a bit of snow mixed in.
00:42But much of southern and eastern England
00:44staying dry, fine, with plenty of sunshine.
00:47Temperatures up to 15, 16, maybe even 17 Celsius.
00:51And even where we've got generally a bit of a breeze
00:53and a mixture of sunshine and showers,
00:55temperatures are above average at 11 to 13.
00:57A colder feel in the far northwest,
00:59where it is really quite windy.
01:01We'll keep some showers going in the far northwest
01:04through the night, but otherwise,
01:05showers tend to fade away.
01:07And for most, it's a dry night.
01:09A clear night, certainly across Northern England,
01:11Northern Ireland and Scotland,
01:12that will lead to a frost.
01:14Further south, well, we are going to have a bit of mist
01:17and a few fog patches forming as well.
01:19And temperatures here, perhaps not quite as low.
01:22Still some frost is possible,
01:24but mostly towns and cities
01:25holding up at one to three degrees.
01:27Further north, though, we will see a frost,
01:29even in urban areas.
01:31So a cold start to Friday.
01:32There will be some stubborn mist and fog patches,
01:35certainly likely to last through the morning rush hour.
01:37West Midlands, East Wales,
01:39and parts of southern England, South Wales as well.
01:41But it should clear steadily through the morning.
01:44Certainly should be gone by late morning.
01:46And then look at this, plenty of sunshine on offer
01:48almost across the border.
01:50A cracking day, if you like spring sunshine on Friday.
01:53Bit of hazy sunshine across the north,
01:55where there'll be some high cloud here.
01:57And a fairly brisk wind blowing
01:58across northern Scotland as well.
02:01Breeze starting to pick up along the south coast of England.
02:04But certainly inland,
02:06temperatures getting well above average
02:08for the time of year.
02:0915, 16, pretty widely over England and Wales.
02:1217 and 18 is possible.
02:14Scotland and Northern Ireland
02:15like to peak at 13, maybe 14,
02:17but perhaps a little higher on the Murray Firth.
02:19The far north of Scotland,
02:20there will be a little cooler,
02:22eight, nine or 10 Celsius here.
02:23And it will be windy here as well.
02:25But that will be a feature of the weather
02:26as we go into the weekend.
02:28During Friday evening, again,
02:30clear skies allowing the temperatures to drop.
02:32So it will be quite cold if you're heading out.
02:35But the breeze, as I said,
02:36just picking up on the south coast
02:37and across the northwest around this area of high pressure.
02:41And that will be a feature of the weather into Saturday.
02:43But the high generally sticking around through Saturday,
02:47bringing plenty more sunshine.
02:49Just a question mark about this little weather feature,
02:52increasing the cloud across the southeast on Sunday
02:55and the possibility of a few showers.
02:57The temperature is not as high on Sunday,
02:59either generally across the board,
03:01but still plenty of sunshine to come for most of us
03:03as we head into the weekend.
03:05More details on that, of course,
03:07if you follow us across social media.
