Transcript
00:00Welcome to your national weather update.
00:02Frost and fog across parts of the south.
00:04Further north, not so cold because we've
00:07got more cloud around here.
00:09In fact, there's a weather from pushing southwards
00:11during Monday evening, bringing a bit of rain
00:13across the Western Isles and then
00:14sinking across the Highlands through the early hours.
00:17Some of that rain may crop up on the north coast of Northern
00:19Ireland too.
00:20For England and Wales, dry and certainly in the south,
00:22clear and frosty.
00:24Minus 2, minus 3, that's towns and cities.
00:26Rural spots may be down to minus 5 or minus 6.
00:30Further north, temperatures holding up at plus 5
00:32or plus 6.
00:33Now, as well as the frost in the south,
00:35some thick fog patches are likely
00:37over parts of the Midlands.
00:38South Wales and southern England,
00:40dense fog for the morning commute.
00:42May take much of the morning in a few places
00:45for that fog to clear.
00:46But then we should, again, see plenty of winter sunshine here.
00:49A bit more cloud across northern England.
00:51Some breaks in that cloud to the east of the hills.
00:54And the far northwest will brighten up
00:55after a dull start.
00:57But for much of central southern Scotland, Northern Ireland,
01:00quite a grey day.
01:01A little bit of light rain is possible.
01:03But most of the day should be dry.
01:058, 9, 10 Celsius here, a touch above average.
01:07Further south, 7 or 8 Celsius.
01:09So you're feeling pleasant in that sunshine
01:11after a frosty start.
01:13Pretty sharply there on Tuesday evening with clear skies.
01:17The blue returns, a frost forming once more.
01:20And the fog is likely to thicken up again during Tuesday night
01:24and into Wednesday morning.
01:25Further north, again, more cloud.
01:27And the wind's starting to really pick up
01:29across northern Scotland.
01:31On Wednesday, particularly through the afternoon
01:33in the far northwest, gusts of 70, maybe 75 miles an hour.
01:37And a band of heavy rain swinging through here
01:40late in the day as well.
01:41So we do have a Met Office yellow warning
01:43in place for those gusty winds that could
01:46cause some travel disruption.
01:47Setting windy for all of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:50The breeze picking up over northern England and North
01:52Wales.
01:52A bit more cloud here.
01:53But again, for most of England and Wales,
01:56Wednesday, hazy sunshine.
01:57A fine winter's day once that fog has cleared.
02:00And once the frost's melted, temperatures up to 6, 7,
02:03maybe 8 degrees Celsius.
02:058 or 9, maybe 10 further north.
02:07But there will be those winds here.
02:09So perhaps not feeling quite as mild on Wednesday.
02:12That line of heavy rain will swing across northern Scotland
02:15during Wednesday evening.
02:17Shouldn't last long, but it will push southwards.
02:20The tightly packed isobar suggesting very strong winds
02:23for a time.
02:23But as that weather front pushes southwards,
02:25bumping up against high pressure,
02:27it'll again fizzle out as it moves
02:30across England and Wales.
02:31And then another weather front perhaps
02:33introducing some milder conditions
02:35as we head towards the end of the week,
02:37and more particularly into the weekend.
