00:00Hello there, good morning and welcome to your weather update this Wednesday. It's a wet
00:05and windy morning across most parts of the country. Rain warnings in force until lunchtime
00:10across western and southern parts of Wales as well as the West Country. Over the hills
00:13we could see 50 to 70 millimetres of rain. This weather system is moving from the west
00:19towards the north east and it's windy as well. So most places are seeing some rain but some
00:24heavy pulses are likely. Across the far north of Scotland you get off to a dry start but
00:29you will eventually see that rain. These bright echoes represent some heavier intense
00:35bursts particularly across southern parts of Scotland, northern England, Wales, the
00:39West Country. Persistent rain for Northern Ireland, a driving wind coming in from a mild
00:43direction and that rain extends across towards East Anglia, the home counties, central southern
00:48England, just perhaps East Sussex and Kent, even Essex seeing some dry weather to start
00:54the day but rain never too far away. So that's the picture first thing this morning. This
01:00whole system here is moving north eastwards and quite quickly as well. So even though
01:05the morning will be wet and windy and there could be problems on the roads with surface
01:09water, certainly poor visibility, notice across Northern Ireland by around mid to late morning
01:14you'll see some clearance coming in. This wind will always be strong towards Irish sea
01:19coast, Channel Coast and a strong wind moving up towards the eastern side of Scotland as
01:24well. But clouds will be broken through the afternoon for Northern Ireland, western Scotland
01:30joining Northern Ireland with some brighter weather and then eventually the rain fades
01:34across northern England, Wales as well as the West Country. We hang on to more rain
01:38though across eastern counties but for the rest of the country you'll have a better afternoon.
01:43Showers though across northern and western areas of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland
01:47and a few here. Temperatures then typically around 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. But at least
01:52some sunshine to end the day away from more southern and eastern areas. And this rain
01:57keeps bumping in across the south coast as we head through Wednesday night. Elsewhere
02:03perhaps some clearer skies but notice this. This is the next front which will come in.
02:08It's an active feature bringing some heavy rain for a couple of hours through the early
02:13hours of Thursday morning approaching northern England and Wales as the sun rises. More rain
02:19to start the day. Showery bursts across central and eastern areas of England and showers will
02:24move in across Scotland and Northern Ireland. And notice the air is colder here and hence
02:28these showers will turn to snow over the higher ground. And they'll be quite heavy in places
02:34with the risk of thunder as well as hail. This cold front here moves across England
02:40and Wales through rush hour on Thursday. So yet again some heavy rain to come. And
02:45notice some bright echoes representing some intense bursts as it moves towards eastern
02:50counties through the afternoon. So quite an unpleasant day across these parts as we head
02:55through the afternoon on Thursday. Brighter skies emerge across northwest England, eastern
02:59counties of Scotland. Showers file in across Wales and the west country and frequent showers
03:05with the risk of thunder and snow over the higher ground for Scotland, a few for Northern
03:09Ireland. I'll see you later.
