00:00Hello and welcome to your weekend weather forecast brought to you by the Met Office.
00:05So we're heading into the second weekend of June and the second weekend of meteorological
00:11summer but still unsettled weather continues particularly across the northern half of the
00:15UK where low pressure is still dominating the picture. High pressure is remaining out
00:21to the west and that will bring some slightly more settled conditions across some southern
00:25parts of the UK throughout the weekend. But let's have a look at the detail for Saturday.
00:30So that occluded front there on Saturday morning has just sat across central parts of England
00:34and Wales bringing some increased cloud cover here but also some outbreaks of rain. That
00:40will sink its way south eastwards as we go throughout the day on Saturday and the showers
00:44will generally fizzle out as it makes its way south eastwards but bringing a little
00:48bit more cloud for the south coast as we go into Saturday afternoon. Now looking further
00:53north missing a continuation of the frequent heavy and blustery showers here that we've
00:58seen for much of the second half of the week and they could contain some hail and maybe
01:02the odd rumble of thunder as well. There will be some decent sunny spells though particularly
01:07across the central slice of the UK and it's here that we'll see the highest temperatures
01:12through Saturday. We could even see temperatures into the low 20s but across northern parts
01:17particularly across Scotland. Temperatures will only just be about around average around
01:2214 maybe locally 15 on Saturday. But this brisk wind is going to make things feel even
01:28chillier here. Now zooming back out again to have a look at the bigger picture for Sunday.
01:33High pressure is still going to remain out to the west but low pressure will make its
01:37way slightly further east as we go into Sunday. And that means that our winds are going to
01:41come from a more northerly direction kind of getting rid of some of that westerly components
01:46while wind that we've had over the last few days. And this is going to mean that showers
01:50are going to make their way a bit more further south than what we've seen of late. So looking
01:55at the detail for Sunday then again quite a cloudy start across the north. Best of any
02:00clearer spells in this morning will be further south but showers continuing to make their
02:05way further south throughout the day on Sunday affecting northern parts of England Northern
02:10Ireland and maybe even reaching as far south as East Anglia by the latter parts of Sunday.
02:16Now the heaviest and most frequent showers will still be across northern parts of Scotland
02:20where we could still see the odd thunderstorm a bit of hail in some of those showers as
02:25well. Best of any dry weather and some sunny spells will be for western areas throughout
02:31the day on Sunday. But temperatures generally a degree or so down on what we're expecting
02:36for Saturday. So highs between 16 and 18 across the south 13 to 14 in the north. Thank you
02:44for listening and keep up to date with the latest weather forecast. Do check out our
02:48social media and I'll see you again soon.
