00:00Welcome along to your weekend weather forecast from the Met Office. A chilly
00:04one this weekend and certainly Saturday a bit of a north-south split with weather
00:08systems trundling in over Scotland and Northern Ireland. High pressure dominant
00:13across the south but these weather fronts will be trickling southwards as
00:17we go through the day bringing a lot of clouds certainly first thing across
00:20Scotland and Northern Ireland on Saturday with some outbreaks of rain.
00:24Further south a largely dry start will be a chilly start and then we'll see the
00:29clouds spilling in over Northern England with some outbreaks of rain trickling in
00:33here too. The winds turning to the north once more across Northern Scotland where
00:37it stays pretty wet all day and yes there will be some snow over the tops of
00:41the hills. That band of rain spreading its way across Northern England into
00:45parts of Wales and eventually into the Midlands too. The odd shower over East
00:48Anglia but much of the south of England will be dry until quite late on. As that
00:53breeze starts to pick up though it's going to introduce colder air
00:56temperatures struggling for much of the day in single digits across parts of
01:00Scotland. Further south with a bit of brightness we should squeak into the
01:04mid-teens 14 or 15 but feeling cooler as this band of rain sinks south it is a
01:09cold front. It gets out of the way on Saturday night may bring a bit of patchy
01:13rain to the southeast and then look at this bit of a ridge bump in the isobars.
01:18That area of high pressure will bring most of us a fine day on Sunday but
01:22notice weather systems are lurking behind me out in the Atlantic but
01:26certainly yes a fine day for most on Sunday. It is though going to be a bit of
01:30a cold start. Temperatures down to freezing well below through sheltered
01:35Scottish glens I suspect. So yes a chilly start and temperatures below average for
01:41this time of year to start the day across much of the country. So yes
01:44expect a chill in the air. Northern England northwards there will be some
01:48frost especially in the countryside but a fine day with hazy sunshine. That
01:52weather system coming in from the west will spread quite a lot of high cloud in
01:56so it's not going to be blue skies all day. The sunshine will be fairly hazy and
02:00as the cloud continues to thicken it is likely to bring some outbreaks of rain
02:04through the afternoon across parts of Northern Ireland. Maybe turning a little
02:07damp and drizzly on the west coast of Scotland also. Notice however as this
02:11weather system is moving in the winds are switching direction coming up from
02:15the south. So that will eventually bring some milder conditions but for most of
02:19the day Sunday will probably feel pretty chilly despite some decent
02:23spells of hazy sunshine. We're going to be starting at or certainly close to
02:27freezing below in some locations and with the cloud increasing it's going to
02:30be hard for those temperatures to rise. Late in the day we might squeak again up
02:34into the mid-teens across the south and west but it will be turning milder as we
02:38head into Monday. But before that a pretty chilly weekend. Do keep up to date
