00:00This is the Mercedes-AMG E63 S. It's a large sedan with loads of room for passengers.
00:12It has quite restrained exterior styling and a luxurious interior with plenty of goodies
00:18to keep you comfortable, such as heated and cooled seats, hands-free access to the trunk,
00:23ambient lighting, and a cabin air purification system.
00:26Seems very civilized, right?
00:28The thing is, it also has a hand-crafted twin-turbo 4.0-litre AMG V8, making 603 horsepower and
00:37627 pound-feet of torque at just 2,500 rpm.
00:42It gets this power to the ground through a very sophisticated all-wheel drive system
00:46that is capable of becoming 100% rear-wheel drive.
00:50So I took it out on Monticello Circuit in New York for a quick spin.
00:55Right away before I'm even on the track, I can tell you that this car has a sensationally
01:00good interior.
01:01This screen in front of me is unbelievably high-definition.
01:05Got Alcantara on the steering wheel, carbon fibre pretty much everywhere.
01:10Alright, the driving position is rather excellent.
01:15The bolsters just hugged me as I went around that slow-speed corner.
01:18I imagine that's going to continue happening on the track.
01:21The E63 somehow manages 0-to-60 in 3.4 seconds, which is, let's be serious, that's supercar
01:29numbers.
01:30Really, that's supercar numbers in a full-blown sedan with quite a lot of space in the backseat.
01:37And some very excellent blue ambient lighting, which I can see in the day, actually.

02:03Oh, the turn-in, it's just unbelievable.
02:05The steering's a little bit too light for my taste, to be perfectly honest.
02:09But the grip is immense!

02:31Brakes don't have quite as much power as I was hoping they would.
02:33This shit is just letting me blap this around the track all day, so that's one of the reasons

02:45There's a little bit of understeer on entry, but it's controllable with the throttle.

03:16Sport Plus mode does allow a little bit of slip, but not really that much.

03:41What a sensational vehicle, it just grips and grips and grips.

04:50I haven't been impressed, I was expecting this to be really, really good, but I wasn't

04:57Excellent car, what an excellent car.
05:02And now we are here, low speeds, commuting around, and the car is quiet, the ride is
05:09smooth, the steering is light, and this is in the same mode too.
05:15I didn't even put it back in comfort mode or anything, I'm still in sport plus, but
05:20the throttle calibration is excellent.
05:23It's almost as if it knows when you want to stamp on it, and right now I don't, because
05:28I'm a few inches away from a Fiat, so it's subtle, it's smooth, it's refined.
05:35Okay, bad thing about this car, there's too much carbon fiber.
05:39Yeah, I mean, it's real, which is amazing, and it has the credentials, but it's literally
05:44everywhere, it's almost a little bit over the top, but I suppose they're allowed,
05:49AMG, massive performance from this car, massive performance.
05:55The AMG E63 S is without a doubt one of the most impressive cars I've driven in a long
06:01time.
06:02The way that it puts the power to the ground during the middle and the exit of a corner
06:05makes it feel rear-wheel drive.
06:07However, if that's not good enough for you, pull both paddles while you're in race mode,
06:12and it will activate drift mode.
06:14This disconnects the front axle entirely and makes it completely rear-wheel drive.
06:20In case you didn't notice, it also sounds fantastic.
06:24So if you're looking for a comfortable, luxurious sedan that can also deliver almost super car
06:29performance on the track, and you have over $100,000, then I think I found the car for
06:34you.
