00:00So, what are your thoughts on the planned upcoming bin changes?
00:06Well, where's all the rubbish going to go for that fortnight all over the pavements like it is now?
00:13Never mind the fortnight collection, I can't collect it weekly!
00:18Well, they said part of the reason was obviously to cut down on costs, to cut down on trouble with mixing, recycling and regular rubbish.
00:26They also said that part of the reason for the upcoming changes is because residents aren't splitting the rubbish themselves.
00:32Do you reckon that's true?
00:34No, no. I can't even get them to cut the edges on the community block down here.
00:39Never mind, collect rubbish.
00:41Do you reckon it's going to cause any more issues to fall bins?
00:45I think it is. They're going to overflow and they're going to have more rats.
00:50Do you think there's already a bit of a problem with bin collections then?
00:54Yes.
00:56It's a circle, isn't it? Again, it's a private company and that's what you get with private companies.
01:02I think it's going to impact a lot because obviously household rubbish is just too much, especially when you've got kids in the house.
01:10I think it's going to be more of a waste pollution thing because people are just dumping in there and too many flies.
01:19It's just going to make the environment more dirty.
01:23Absolutely. Do you think it's going to cause a bigger issue with fly tipping?
01:26It will, I think.
01:28Let me see what your thoughts are on this.
01:31One of the reasons that they said was because people aren't separating rubbish properly.
01:35There's people who's not separating the recycling from anything else, so it's all going into the incinerators.
01:40Do you think that's an issue? Do you have a problem with separating?
01:44My mum does it, so I don't have that issue because my mum does that.
01:49I think, yes, that is an issue because if I'll be very honest, if it was me, I wouldn't separate it.
01:56I would just put everything in one and be very honest.
01:59Yes, that could be an issue.
02:02Do you think it's a bad idea?
02:04It is, 100%. It's a bad idea. Don't do it.
02:07For single people like myself, I think it's not going to be too much of a problem.
02:12But I think families will struggle with only having one collection every two weeks.
02:18I know there are families near me that have full bins every week.
02:22So what are they going to do with all their rubbish if it's only fortnightly?
02:26And that's like, obviously, currently it's one week. They've got full bins after one week, let alone two weeks.
02:32Yes, absolutely, yes.
02:34So what do you think it's going to do to the fly tipping? Do you reckon there's going to be more fly tipping?
02:37I think it will be more because people will need to get rid of the rubbish.
02:40And I think we're going to see a lot more black plastic bags sitting around on pavements.
02:46Absolutely, yes.
02:48So one of the issues, and I think you'll be surprised by this as well,
02:52one of the issues that they said has contributed to the decision
02:56was the lack of people separating the recycling from regular rubbish.
03:01Do you think that's an issue? Do you reckon that's an issue currently?
03:04No, I think a lot of people do quite well with their recycling in Sandwell.
03:10I can't see that people aren't...
03:14We get a lot of information from the council about what to recycle and what not to.
03:18And I think, as far as I'm aware, people follow that.
03:21But overall, not really for it?
03:25Yes, I don't mind recycling. I always recycle.
03:29What about the two week thing, do you reckon?
03:32No, I'm not happy with that.
03:34I can't see why we can't keep the bin situation as it is now.
