On road ahead for Indian team, with 2025 ODI WC at home, former Indian captain Anjum Chopra says, "It's everyone individually who needs to go back. There is hardly any time. We are right at the start of the season. International tournaments is one thing, but we are right at the start of the season where we will be playing in New Zealand for those three ODIs. You still want to be there as a winner (in next year’s World Cup). How do you play the one-day format? How do you prepare for a T20 format? This game is not going to give you another opportunity. We've always aspired to have the crowd behind us, and people come into the stadiums.

00:00It's everyone individually who needs to go back. There is hardly any time.
00:05This game, we are right at the start of the season. International tournaments, as you mentioned, is one thing.
00:11But we are right at the start of the season where we will be playing in New Zealand for those three one-day internationals.
00:16Because those three games are important for qualification for the next World Cup, for the 50 overall.
00:23Okay, fair enough. India is a host. But you still want to be there as a winner.
00:30How do you play the one-day format? How do you prepare for a T20 format?
00:35This game is not going to give you another opportunity. We have always aspired to have the crowd behind us, have people come into the stadiums.
00:44There has been a lot of effort from the administrators, world over bodies who probably tried to get the women's game to this platform.
00:54Not only an individual tournament, but also people coming to the stadiums.
00:59I mean, in the UAE, when was it that we thought that we will have an India-Pakistan women's cricket match with a stadium 80% full or a Sharjah stadium 99% full for an India-Australia game?
01:14So, if the game has developed, I guess the onus is also on the individual players to up their standard and skill level.
01:23Because if you are short of that standard and skill level, it will be found out very quickly.
01:28And sadly, it's happened on few more occasions than less occasions for us.
01:35If we boast of having one of the best Indian team, the world champion Indian men's cricket team, then it's a great pride for us as a cricketer, as an Indian national.
01:48Which we hold with great confidence that we belong to a land where our team is the world cup winning team, is the international champion.
02:04We are world cup winners.
02:06So, if one team is a world cup winner, the other team also aspires to be that.
02:12But coming out from just words to coming into actions, there is a whole different ball game.
02:19And it's not just a wish and a will. Everybody aspires to become a world cup winner.
02:24But only one can take home that trophy, one team.
02:26Rest only try harder the next time.
02:29So, I guess from words to actions, it needs to translate into that.
02:35It has helped. It has come about in leaps and bounds.
02:39But there is still a huge way to travel.
02:42And the slower we are in getting there, the further pegged back we will become.
02:48Because other teams are also in that same race.
02:50So, we need to speed up if we want to remain in the race.
