00:00Spiderhead is an ultramodern prison that resembles more of a hotel.
00:09In this facility inmates live under a more relaxed regime, have the right to take walks,
00:15interact with each other and have the opportunity to reduce their sentences and receive bonuses.
00:21But it all comes at a price.
00:24Spiderhead carries out medical trials, and not all of them are harmless.
00:28To be fair, it must be said that all experiments are voluntary and each inmate has the right
00:33to refuse and return to a standard cell in another prison.
00:38Ray, one of the inmates, sits in a chair in front of a mirrored window, and Steve announces
00:43the start of the experiment by injecting a substance into Ray's bloodstream.
00:48Just a minute later, they administer the first dose of the drug to the subject and begin
00:53reciting simple jokes, causing Ray to burst into hysterical laughter.
00:59When the jokes are replaced by grim facts, the subject's reaction remains the same.
01:04Ray continues to laugh hysterically.
01:07Another morning in Spiderhead is no different from the previous ones.
01:11Inmates are awakened by a loudspeaker, and their names immediately announced for participation
01:16in the experiments.
01:18Steve inquires of Jeff if he is willing to try the new N-40 compound on himself, which
01:24no one has ever tried before, and the guy readily agrees to participate in the experiment.
01:30In addition to the test drug, another one is administered to enhance the speech centers

01:36This allows Jeff to describe his state in great detail, mentioning the smallest details.
01:42Returning to the Spiderhead compound, Jeff meets Lizzie and tells her about his walk

01:59The only thing the guy remembers is that everything that surrounded him during the experiment,
02:03whether it was flowers or factory pipes, elicited the strongest feelings of love and admiration
02:09in him.
02:10In the evening while sitting in bed, Jeff recalls how he ended up in prison.
02:15He and his friend decided to go for a joyride at the party, and the intoxicated Jeff took
02:21the wheel.
02:22The next day, the N-40 trials, now called Cupid, continue, but this time Jeff is not
02:28alone.
02:29Heather, a bold girl who changes her mind about her partner after just a few seconds
02:33of drug administration, is invited to join him.
02:36The couple's conversation lasts only a few seconds before they cannot resist and engage
02:41in intimacy.
02:43They don't care that they're being observed and filmed, as the substance completely disconnects
02:48their minds from their internal barriers.
02:51The process concludes with the young people confessing their love for each other, which
02:55delights Steve, and he instructs his partner, Mark, to closely monitor the subjects to see
03:01how they behave when the effects of the substance wear off.
03:05The couple feels awkward after what happened and tries not to talk to anyone about it.

03:14during the experiments, and he avoids encounters with Heather.
03:18The next day, they administer the same Cupid to Jeff, but this time in a double dose, and
03:24instead of Heather, an older woman is in the room, whom sober Jeff looks at with disgust.
03:30However, as soon as the substance enters his bloodstream, he engages in love with her.
03:35After this experiment, Jeff asks Mark to remove him from the kitchen, where they work

04:01that induces intense fear and pain to, but Jeff cannot choose.
04:05He is indifferent to both of the girls, and he cannot wish harm upon them.
04:10In the end, they simply release the girls, canceling the experiment.
04:14Having the right to another Friday walk, Jeff calls his girlfriend who was with him on the
04:19night of the accident, but once again he only gets the voicemail.
04:23In the evening, Jeff spends time with Lizzie, arranging a small Christmas surprise for her.
04:28When Jeff finds himself in the familiar chair in the laboratory, he sees Rogan in front
04:33of him, a massive inmate covered in tattoos.
04:37Jeff recalls everything that happened with the girls in the previous days, and refuses
04:42the experiment.
04:43Nothing happens, and the men are simply released after a couple of minutes of silence.
04:48Jeff realizes what has just occurred.
04:51He and Rogan were partners with one of the female inmates, and she was supposed to choose
04:55which one of them would receive meds.
04:58Bursting into Steve's office, Jeff confirms his suspicions upon seeing Heather there.

06:16Heather begins to cry and panic, but the management calmly records the data, listening to Jeff's
06:22comments, which do not contain any hint of romantic feelings.
06:26The experiment's goal is achieved, and Steve plans to conclude it, but an error occurs,
06:31and Heather goes out of control.
06:33She gets hold of a sharp object and frees herself from the torment caused by the darkened
06:38flux.
06:39While Steve and Mark are busy with Heather, Jeff notices the lost keys belonging to the
06:44supervisor, and finds a notebook with records of upcoming experiments and a lottery ticket,
06:50with the same numbers as the names of the meds being administered.
06:54Seeing that Steve is no longer behind the glass, Jeff manages to lock the safe and toss
06:58the keys back so that the doctor does not realize that his secret is exposed.
07:04Steve warns Mark that if anyone finds out about what happened to Heather, and he has
07:08to answer for it, he will drag everyone who participated in the experiment down with him.
07:14Lizzie participates in the experiments for the first time, and the first thing they administer
07:18to her is darkened flux.
07:21After experiencing it, she meets with Jeff in a secluded place and shares her feelings

08:04When Jeff arrives for the next experiment, he learns that today he must either agree
08:08to administer darkened flux to Lizzie or leave Spiderhead.
08:12Jeff refuses, but the doctor gives him a chance to postpone the experiment until the morning.
08:17When he meets the defiant young man again, he is armed with Lizzie's personal file.
08:22It turns out that the crime for which the girl is serving time is so terrifying for
08:26her that no amount of darkened flux can make it worse.
08:30Steve watches with pleasure as Jeff adjusts the dosage scale to the maximum.
08:35However, it quickly becomes apparent to him that Jeff intends to experiment on him, not
08:40on his girlfriend.
08:42Mark, realizing that he has also fallen into Steve's trap with the inmates, decides to
08:47rectify the situation and hands the remote control to Jeff.
08:51The inmate receives all the necessary information from Steve and persuades him to open the main
08:56exit so that he and Lizzie can leave the prison.
08:59But the manager grabs the remote control and administers the maximum dose of darkened flux
09:04to the girl, causing her intense suffering.
09:07He then smashes his cell phone to prevent anyone from canceling his command.
09:12The couple manages to free themselves from the effects of the meds and run out of the
09:16laboratory.
09:17At the same time, Steve announces over the loudspeaker that because of the fugitives,
09:22everyone else will be sent back to prisons, where their comfortable lives will come to
09:27an end.
09:28Jeff and Lizzie become the targets of a manhunt.
09:30Dozen of hardened criminals, including the massive tattooed Rogan, plan to deal with
09:35the couple, who deprive them of all the privileges of the facility.
09:39Steve tries to escape with the meds because police boats, called by Mark, are about to
09:44approach Spiderhead.
09:46Steve manages to leave the base and take off in a small plane before the police arrive.
09:51But since his remote control is shattered, meds are injected into his bloodstream in
09:56massive quantities.
09:58Another release of Cupid induces admiration, and the man steers the plane towards a tiny
10:03rocky island, seeing it as a paradise.
10:06Mark, on the police boat, watches as his former boss circles above the sea and then crashes
10:13into the rocks.
10:14Jeff and Lizzie hijack a boat and manage to sail away before the police arrive.
10:19Happy and free, the young couple regrets only that Steve did not invent a substance that
10:25couldn't use self-forgiveness.
