00:00Former One Direction singer Liam Payne was found dead after falling from a third-floor

00:05hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.

00:08Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, told local television that

00:13the singer sustained very serious injuries incompatible with life and there was no possibility

00:19of resuscitation.

00:21Emergency personnel were dispatched to the Casa Sur hotel in the Palermo neighborhood

00:25after a 911 call was made at 5.04 p.m. local time.

00:30They arrived seven minutes later and confirmed the death of the man, who they later identified

00:35as the singer.

00:37Crescenti stated that Payne appeared to have suffered a skull fracture from the fall, which

00:41was estimated to be about 13 or 14 meters.

00:46Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Payne's death and an autopsy is

00:51being conducted.

00:52Payne, who had recently announced plans to work on a solo album, attended a concert by

00:57former bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires on Oct. 2, according to Billboard magazine.
