00:18through their second and third readings without wider and deeper deliberation.

00:23In a statement, it said that while the government now has a two-thirds majority to pass bills,

00:28including those involving constitutional amendments, Anwar should exercise restraint

00:32in employing his parliamentary supermajority.

00:35It added that deliberation and consensus are values upheld in Islam and other civilizations.

00:42The Constitution Amendment Bill 2024 and Mufti Federal Territories Bill 2024 have faced significant

00:48opposition, with critics warning that the proposed citizenship amendments could worsen

00:52statelessness while the Mufti Bill risks granting unchecked power to religious authorities.

00:58SC4PP said referring the controversial bills to PSSCs would show Anwar's genuine commitment

01:04to democracy and good governance, and demonstrate whether he seeks to build national consensus

01:09to govern a diverse society or is just another strongman.
