00:07Lovely to speak to Becky Mundon. Now, Becky, you're back where you want to be most, aren't you?
00:11Back with Hales on the stage with the Addams Family at the Capitol Theatre in Horsham, 5th to 9th November.
00:19You'll be singing, and that's what you love most, isn't it?
00:21What is it that's so special about singing, as far as you're concerned?
00:25Oh, singing is just... if there's anything I would choose to be doing, it's singing.
00:31It just brings me absolute joy. Some people run, like you were saying yourself,
00:36but it unlocks all my good endorphins.
00:41And doing it with people, everybody always says that Hales is real family.
00:46It really, truly is. And in Addams Family, everybody on that stage is absolutely on their A-game.
00:53But you were saying with the singing, you don't even need an audience, whether it's just you alone or 400 people, you'll sing.
00:59No, I'm equally happy at home in my lounge or on the stage at the Capitol.
01:05And it's a fantastic stage. And forgive me, I don't know the Addams Family, which is a great omission.
01:10What is it that makes the Addams Family such a great show, then, do you think?
01:13So, the Addams Family was iconic back in the day, obviously, with the TV series.
01:17There's been films, there's been a recent Netflix spin-off with Wednesday.
01:21The musical brings a little bit of a different angle. I would say it's a little bit light-hearted,
01:26more light-hearted than I think people would expect.
01:29It's intensely funny. It's absolutely hilarious.
01:33And got some really good songs in it as well, as you would hope from a musical.
01:38I don't think it's a great way to celebrate spooky season, but I think it's still fairly family-friendly.
01:46It's quite light-hearted, as well as, you know, obviously having its little edge as well.
01:53You can be pretty easy to spot as a vision in yellow.
01:57A vision in yellow, yes. So, I play Alice Beinecke, who is a future in-law of Wednesday's,
02:03who's coming to dinner to meet the family, which you can imagine Morticia all in black and Alice all in yellow.
02:10On a natural pair, really. It's interesting to see where it goes.
02:16It sounds intriguing. And you and Haywards go back, what, 13 years now?
02:20It's a company that you love performing with. Why? What makes them special?
02:24Yes. Well, Haywards has been going for 70. I joined 13 years ago.
02:30I've done all sorts of things within. I've organised events for them.
02:34I've been on committee. I've helped with marketing. I've been on stage.
02:39And Haywards, we always talk about the Haywards family, which sounds a bit of a cliché, but it is so true.
02:46And having been away for a couple of years, coming back into that has been really special, actually.
02:52I last did Sister Act in 2022. So, for me, it's been quite a long break.
02:57It doesn't sound like that long. But given I was doing back-to-back shows and everything,
03:02the society has so much to offer, whether you want to work backstage, whether you want to be on stage.
03:08Our teams in both places are just absolutely incredible.
03:14And I hope that comes across in the standard of shows that we put on.
