00:11up in Hastings, isn't there? African Caribbean Seaside Memories at the Upper Walkway Gallery.
00:17What's it all about? What's the story it's going to tell?
00:23It's an exhibition at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery in Hastings. It is an exploration
00:33of African Caribbean memories of visiting the seaside in the UK. And it is curated by
00:40Lorna Hamilton Brown. And it builds on a workshop that was first held as part of the We Out
00:482023 exhibition at the Hastings Contemporary.
00:52That sounds fantastic. Tell me a bit more about the story that it will tell.
00:58So it shows a collection of artworks created by people of African and Caribbean descent
01:03who share their personal seaside memories through various creative forms. So they highlight the joy
01:13of the memories and also the often overlooked histories and stories of African Caribbean
01:19communities in the UK. This sounds fascinating. It must have been quite something to research
01:25to put together. Yeah, yeah. So in preparation for the exhibition,
01:32there have been monthly workshops where participants have been able to create collaged
01:39artwork using scrapbooking techniques. And these workshops have also been a space to
01:45sort of connect and reminisce and sort of consolidate experiences. The exhibition will
01:54also have a number of events happening during the time that it's showing. So it's worth going
