00:00Hi everyone! Let's talk about the United States of America. It is also commonly known as U.S.,
00:15U.S.A., the States, or America, even though America is the whole continent. United States
00:24is located in North America. It shares land borders with Canada on top and Mexico at the
00:31southern border. And do you know how many states does the U.S. have? The U.S. have 50
00:41states. The 49 states, including Alaska, are located on the continent of North America.
00:49And Hawaii is located in the Pacific Ocean. The capital of the U.S. is Washington, D.C.
00:58and it is where the President lives. The President House is called the White House. This is the
01:05national flag of the United States. It has 13 stripes and 50 white stars on a blue background.
01:14The most commonly used language is English, specifically American English, which is the
01:20national language spoken by the great majority of the U.S. population. Many other languages
01:25are also spoken, especially Spanish. The money is the U.S. dollar. Now let's see if you remember
01:38what are the U.S.A. national symbols. The national animal is the American bison. The
01:47national bird is the bald eagle. The national tree is the oak tree. And the national flower
02:02is the rose. A very important date for Americans is the 4th of July, the national holiday of
02:11the United States, where they celebrate their independence on July 4th. Happy July 4th!
02:23Hot dogs and hamburgers are pretty traditional food for the 4th of July. Now let's see if
02:31you can recognize this man. Probably you have seen him in t-shirts, posters, hats.
02:37Do you know his name? His name is Uncle Sam. This image was used to encourage men to enlist
02:45in the military service for World War I. Uncle Sam was officially adopted as a national symbol
02:53of the United States. Now, are you ready to travel to the U.S. and get to know the most
03:00visited tourist sites and landmarks? The most famous one is a tall lady holding a torch.
03:07Do you know her name? It is the Statue of Liberty and it was a gift from France. It
03:13represents the freedom and liberty of the United States democracy. Also in New York,
03:20we can find the Empire State Building, one of the oldest buildings, which is over a hundred
03:26stories high. Then, this famous red bridge is called the Golden Gate Bridge and it is
03:34located in San Francisco, California. Another important landmark is the Grand Canyon, located
03:41in Arizona. What about this mountain? Do you recognize it? It is called Mount Rushmore
03:50and it is a mountain in South Dakota famous for the huge faces carved on its side. The
03:56faces are those of four U.S. presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln
04:04and Theodore Roosevelt. Now let's talk about music and sports. Not only the U.S. is a huge
04:14country, but their musical impression has made a big impact on the world. Some of the
04:21best musical artists include Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Madonna, Michael
04:28Jackson, Beyonce and many more. And what about sports? The United States is a sport-minded
04:37country with millions of fans who follow American football, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf
04:44and ice hockey. Here are some of the greatest celebrated American athletes of all times.
04:51Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Tiger Woods, Tom Brady, Michael Phelps and Serena Williams
05:00among many others. Also, we can find Hollywood in the U.S., home to most movies and television
05:08studios. Have you seen these logos? The United States is behind some of the biggest companies
05:16of the world, for example Coca-Cola, Apple, McDonald's, Google, Nike, Disney, Microsoft
05:25and NASA. NASA is a U.S. government agency responsible for science and technology related
05:33to air and space. In fact, NASA sent the first man to the moon. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong
