00:00All right, 2021, it's a new year, and welcome to my condo.
00:04If you've seen some of my older videos, I have shot some of them here,
00:08but this is where I used to live, and I've had to move all of my gear,
00:12my, like, YouTube stuff, into this space because my office that I regularly shoot from is,
00:18it's going under renovations, super messy, dusty, can't use it.
00:21So here we are in a space that's a little bit different.
00:24It sounds a little bit different, it's lit a little bit differently,
00:27but we'll make some really cool videos.
00:29And I think you guys will like them.
00:31Okay, here we go.
00:36Yeah, this is a very greenish yellow dining table.
00:41It's casting a green glow on my face.
00:43It's casting a green glow on this white paneling here.
00:46It is not ideal.
00:46I'm probably going to have to deal with this in the future,
00:49but for today, this is what we have.
00:52Okay, this is a desktop PC.
00:54This is the first piece of tech I brought in here for the new studio.
00:58It is a bit of a different build than I normally go for.
01:00So normally, I build in small ITX cases.
01:03I like the compact size of these things.
01:06I like the challenge of building something that's pretty powerful
01:09in these kind of space-limited cases.
01:13They're cool.
01:13They're fun.
01:14They got a nice look to them.
01:15But for this one, because this is going to be more of a workhorse,
01:19I want it to be more traditional, but at the same time,
01:22I haven't built in a large ATX case in, like, five or six years.
01:26It's been a while.
01:27So I went with this thing.
01:30The case I landed on is the NZXT H510 Elite.
01:34This is a pretty popular case.
01:36It's got a nice design aesthetic to it.
01:38It's got a nice front panel that showcases the light-up fans in there.
01:41However, it's not a particularly well-reviewed case.
01:44There are a lot of hardware enthusiasts and thermal enthusiasts
01:47that would consider this to be a more mediocre case in terms of its airflow,
01:51but I'm very particular about my PC build.
01:54They got to look a certain way.
01:55Now, in this system, I'm running an AMD 5950X.
01:59In my opinion, it's the best CPU you can have right now
02:01for both gaming and for video editing.
02:0416 cores, super fast.
02:06It's an awesome CPU.
02:08Now, this was originally water-cooled.
02:10It had an all-in-one water cooler from NZXT.
02:12I ended up swapping it out for an air-cooled solution.
02:15This is the D15S from Noctua.
02:18It's a different aesthetic, but I went for this just for reliability.
02:22I wanted something that just had very little chance of failure,
02:26and I've had issues in the past with all-in-ones.
02:28So, air cooling.
02:30This is running some white Chromax plates, and we also have 32 gigs of RAM.
02:34Now, because this was an AMD CPU,
02:36the original plan was to run an AMD GPU as well.
02:40I had a 6800 XT.
02:42I never shot the review for this thing.
02:44I had an awesome thumbnail to go for it,
02:45but I just didn't have the time to make the video.
02:48This is an excellent GPU.
02:50So much better than I thought AMD would be able to deliver, and it's great.
02:54However, when I had this thing installed,
02:56there were a couple things that deterred me away from using this in this particular system.
03:00Number one, I edit in Adobe Premiere,
03:03and NVIDIA's cards just have some slight hardware optimizations that make a noticeable...
03:10I wouldn't say it's massive, but it's a significant increase in performance.
03:15Significant enough for me to switch to a NVIDIA-based GPU.
03:20It's unfortunate because I really want to support AMD.
03:22I think what they're doing is awesome, and I just...
03:25I want to give these guys some love.
03:26However, because of what I do, this is a better GPU for video editing.
03:31The second thing is ray tracing.
03:33Now, I've gone on record.
03:34I've even... I'll say it again.
03:36I don't think that ray tracing is super important.
03:38In fact, I would just say that if you're purchasing a GPU,
03:42ray tracing should not be a deciding factor for which brand you should go with, right?
03:47However, Cyberpunk 2077.
03:50This is a game that looks amazing with ray tracing.
03:53I would say it's the one game that really defined what ray tracing could be,
03:57at least for me.
03:59NVIDIA cards do them better.
04:01It's a game that I played a lot of over the holidays, and I just...
04:04That's why.
04:04So here we have an NVIDIA RTX 3080.
04:08It's the Vision from Gigabyte, and it's a very nice-looking white card.
04:13They also make a 3090.
04:15I was trying to use...
04:17So I stuffed this thing in here for a little bit.
04:20It fits.
04:21It's big, but it runs hot.
04:24In this case, it just pushed it a little bit too deep into the heat for me,
04:28so I went with 3080.
04:30And for the type of games that I play and the type of video editing that I do,
04:33this is almost identical to the performance of a 3090.
04:38It's vertically mounted.
04:39I had to get a vertical GPU kit for it, as well as a PCI-4 riser.
04:43I don't know if it was really worth it.
04:44That's like $120, $130 Canadian just for the hardware to mount this GPU in a vertical fashion.
04:50And, I mean, it's got a look, and it's popular nowadays.
04:53But having done it, like, I wanted to see it, right?
04:55I've never done it on a large case, a vertical-mounted GPU.
04:59It's nice, but it's expensive.
05:02And it really depends on the GPU.
05:04Like, some cards don't even look that good vertically mounted.
05:07This one looks...
05:09I think it's okay, but I don't think it was worth the extra $130.
05:12Now, in terms of thermal performance, it's decent.
05:15Like, it's a solid 5-6 degrees warmer than a heavily perforated high airflow case.
05:20Is that significant?
05:22It really depends on how you look at it.
05:23Like, for me personally, I'm happy with it.
05:25I would be even comfortable bumping this even hotter.
05:28Like, add another 5 degrees.
05:29I'd still go for this just because of the design aesthetic.
05:32I've run so many hotter cases.
05:34Like, ITX builds that hit like 85, close to 90 degrees.
05:39This is nothing, man.
05:41I'm good with it.
05:42Okay, now that's me, right?
05:44If you're someone that wants your system to last as long as possible with the fastest boost clocks,
05:49there's probably a better case than this.
05:52Now, the monitor that I use is the LG 38WN95C.
05:57Awesome monitor.
05:58Terrible name, but excellent display.
06:00So, widescreen.
06:0238 inches.
06:03Super bright.
06:04Very color accurate.
06:05144 hertz.
06:07Super fast for gaming.
06:08It's the perfect screen.
06:09It does everything well.
06:10Now, the keyboard that I have for the setup is a special keyboard.
06:13This was built by Nathan from Teha Types.
06:16He's got a custom mechanical keyboard channel.
06:18I'll link it down below.
06:20And this is something else.
06:21So, this is the Dixie Bauer.
06:23It's a high-end mechanical keyboard, and it's a work of art.
06:26It's got the teal coloring on the back plate.
06:28It's got some nice white Cerakote material.
06:31It's got my logo etched into the front of it.
06:34This thing is beautiful.
06:3665% keyboard.
06:37Teleo switches.
06:38Lubed.
06:39It just types and sounds like something else.
06:50Yeah.
06:50Okay, so the mouse that's going with this setup is undecided still.
06:54We got the Logitech G Pro Superlight.
06:56We got the Viper Ultimate.
06:57We got the Pwnage Ultra Custom.
06:59All of them in white.
07:00All of them would look really good in this setup, but I haven't chosen one yet.
07:03And the mouse pad is the Razer ProGlide.
07:06Simple, gray mouse pad that looks really nice.
07:08And the headphones, Microsoft Surface Headphones 2.
07:12It's like the second generation of the Surface headphones.
07:14They are fantastic.
07:15Now, having built this system, and looking at it now from the perspective of an owner
07:20of a large ATX case again, not that this is massive, but it's a lot bigger than a mini
07:24ITX case, I've kind of forgotten the charm that comes with building one of these systems.
07:30Like, they're fun, right?
07:31They're just, there's more room.
07:32You don't have to think about, like, do parts fit?
07:35Like, you have to take some of that into consideration, but it's not nearly as strict
07:38as a small case.
07:39And it's just, it was a fun experience.
07:42That being said, I still think I like small cases.
07:44I'm going to use this thing as my main rig in here, right?
07:47I need the reliability.
07:48I like the space that this has to kind of give me that peace of mind, knowing that there's
07:53going to be zero thermal issues ever, I hope, knock on wood, with this system.
07:58But there's something about small systems that I'm always going to have a soft spot
08:03for them.
08:04Okay, hope you guys enjoyed this video.
08:05Thumbs if you liked it, subs if you loved it.
08:07I'll see you guys next time.
