00:00Hey, how's it going guys?
00:09This is Dave2D and welcome to the third episode of My Laptop Setup, a series where I feature
00:14the laptop setup that you guys submit as well as showcase whatever it is that you do with
00:19your gear.
00:20And this week's episode is themed around 3D modeling and design.
00:23Our first submission is from Loic.
00:25He's a 17-year-old kid from France.
00:27He's running a 17-inch Asus X751, which is an older laptop.
00:31He's running a Porsche Design 1TB drive from Lacie.
00:34Really nice looking drive.
00:35I love that thing.
00:37For inputs, he's using a CM Storm Devastator keyboard and a Perixx MX3000 mouse.
00:42And when he's not mobile and he's working at home, he connects up to a higher monitor.
00:47So Loic works with 3ds Max and Photoshop and from the looks of his renders, he really likes
00:51doing architecture stuff.
00:53So he's got a handful of exterior building renders and interior design renders and it
00:57looks like a lot of them are using multiple light sources, which probably crank up render
01:01times on his particular laptop.
01:03And he's got a couple more complex pieces where he's done some Photoshop work to add
01:07in some backgrounds.
01:08So here's the thing.
01:09Loic's setup isn't super cool or anything, but what he does with it was really impressive
01:13and he actually attached a note that I wanted to share with you guys.
01:16He wrote,
01:17Even if you don't have your dreams set up with love and patience, you're able to get
01:20closer to what you want.
01:22And that's been my experience.
01:23Even with a lot of crashes, lag, and long render times, you're able to create some 3D
01:28stuff like this, even if it's not perfect.
01:30And that to me is the embodiment of my laptop setup.
01:34Gear is cool, but what you do with it is that much better.
01:37Thank you for your submission Loic, that was really neat.
01:39Okay, next up is Brandon.
01:41His main laptop is the Microsoft Surface Book.
01:43This made me very happy to see.
01:45I really like the Surface Book.
01:46It was such a cool idea and Microsoft designed this thing for people like Brandon.
01:51If you're unfamiliar, it's a powerful tablet that becomes even more powerful when you connect
01:55it to the keyboard because there's a graphics card inside the keyboard.
01:59He's using the Logitech MX Master Mouse.
02:01That's a very popular mouse amongst content creators.
02:03I actually use one a lot in the office.
02:06He's using a Nexus 6P with a bamboo skin from dbrand.
02:09And that pairs nicely with his Huawei watch, which I think is one of the best looking smart
02:13watches on the market right now.
02:15He's also using a Samsung Galaxy Tab, which I'm assuming is for lightweight media consumption.
02:19And he also carries the JBL OnePlus earphones and a Samsung NX 1000 camera.
02:24So Brandon's renders are done in Google SketchUp.
02:27He submitted some phones, some of which are renders of existing phones like the S7 Edge
02:32and there's one of the OnePlus 3.
02:34And he's also included a phone that he designed himself, I think, that kind of looks like
02:37a mix between a Galaxy phone with the curved back, but the front looks like a Nexus 6P,
02:43which I think for a lot of people would be a dream phone.
02:45Like if Samsung made a Nexus phone, that would be awesome.
02:49So in this photo, I noticed you're working on something with multiple phone layers, which
02:52I thought was pretty neat.
02:54So thank you, Brandon, for your submission.
02:55It's really cool to see someone with a Surface Book as their main device.
02:59All right, last up, we have Jesper.
03:01He's also using a Surface device, but he's got the Surface Pro 4 with the gray keyboard.
03:06He's using a Lumia 950 Windows phone, and the mouse he's using is the Microsoft Designer
03:11Bluetooth.
03:12I've never actually seen this mouse before, but it looks super clean.
03:15And to protect the Surface Pro 4, he's using the Incipio Specialist Sleeve.
03:19And for headphones, he's using the Sony MDR-XB450.
03:23So it's a full Microsoft setup.
03:25The photography episode I did last week had a ton of Apple hardware.
03:29This week, not a single piece of Apple hardware in sight.
03:31Okay, so Jesper submitted a bunch of what looks like art assets for games, some full
03:36scenes and some individual assets.
03:38Some of these look really good, nicely done stuff, good lighting, great textures, and
03:43even the modeling itself is really well done.
03:45So he created a game called Elemental Onslaught for a three-week project at school.
03:50It's a free game.
03:51I've linked it below if you want to check it out.
03:52And he also did a review of the Surface Pro on his YouTube channel, which I've also linked
03:56below.
03:57But that's it for this week's episode.
03:58It was on 3D designers.
03:59Hope you guys enjoyed it.
04:00Next week's episode is on something quite different.
04:02If you're interested in submitting your own stuff, check the video description below.
04:06There's full instructions there.
04:07And if you've already submitted and you didn't see your content, don't worry.
04:10Just look for a future episode that might fit your submission a little bit better.
04:14If you're interested, vote as to who you thought was your favorite entry.
04:18And last thing about the prizes, I'm very close to finishing the details about that.
04:22Future video coming up shortly.
04:24That's it.
04:25Hope you guys enjoyed this video.
04:26Thumbs if you liked it, subs if you loved it.
04:27It's been nice.
04:28I'll see you guys next time.
