Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Gill Buchanan, the editor of the Falkirk Herald, and I'm here to tell you about
00:05some of the stories that are making the headlines in our print edition, which is on sale now.
00:09We lead this week on the sad news that breast cancer campaigner Mandy Malcolm has died aged
00:15only 35. We take a look back at her story and some of the perfectly frank columns that
00:21she used to write for the Falkirk Herald.
00:23It's been announced that the Citizens Advice Bureaus across the district have helped residents
00:29gain millions of pounds in benefits that they were due. We visited the Marks and Spencers salad
00:34producer Bacavore to learn more about the company that employs around a thousand people in Bowness
00:40and talked to some of their long service award winners. A woman who called a taxi to take her
00:46shopping and then didn't have the money to pay the driver, later attacking him, has been jailed
00:51when she appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court. Strathcairn Singers have presented the hospice
00:57with another £5,000 cheque from their concert in their 20th anniversary year.
01:03There's lots of picture galleries and faces in this week's edition.
01:08We were at a charity coffee morning organised by Falkirk Firefighters,
01:12also cheering on all those who took part in Sunday's Strathcairn Hospice 10k run.
01:18We were braving the rain on Saturday at the Bowness Steam Gala along with lots of enthusiasts
01:23and attending the newly named Sealock Centre in Grangemouth's Open Day.
01:28We also have a gallery of pics from readers who captured the Northern Lights over the district.
01:34The poignant annual Baby Loss Awareness Ceremony, where families come together to remember little
01:39ones lost too soon, took place at the Helix this week and we were also there.
01:44Historian Iain Scott tells a story about the man who, as he puts it,
01:49dinged the steeple several hundred years ago.
01:52In sport we talked to Falkirk striker Callum Morrison on his return to the side after a
01:57mystery illness. There's also all our usual football, rugby and basketball coverage and
02:03photographs from the recent Sparta Boxing 10th anniversary event. All these and much more are
02:10in our print edition which is on sale now and also online at www.falkirkherald.co.uk. Thank you.
