00:13Final day of ACL. Canons are here. How are y'all?
00:16What's up? Very good. Excited to be here.
00:18Good. Y'all holding up with the heat. That's always the first question. Everybody okay?
00:22We are roasting.
00:23Yes, I'm about to say. I love the—everything looks great, but the dark does not breathe, I'm sure.
00:28What we do for you.
00:29The sacrifices.
00:30I'm wearing a jacket and 100-degree heat.
00:33What could go wrong?
00:34You guys, of course, were here last week, played the American Express stage.
00:39So talk about playing that stage again today, and it's going to be the same thing again.
00:44We were over there earlier. There's a lot of pink. There's a lot of pink there, of course.
00:47In case y'all don't know, Chapel Rowan comes on after them.
00:50How was that, performing out on that stage? It was also sunny, of course.
00:55You guys got the sunny stage last week.
00:56It was sunny, but it was really exciting. The crowd was really awesome.
01:00Everybody was dancing and singing with us.
01:02Yeah, I did see a lot of the pink hats and all the things, but had a great time with the crowd.
01:08And we had fire for the first time during our set.
01:11During fire for you, I'm assuming.
01:13Yes.
01:14It would have been weird if it was during a different song.
01:16So we're bringing even more heat to the 100-degree weather today.
01:20You guys enjoy it out there.
01:21Everyone drinks water.
01:23They were like, we couldn't throw ice out, so we're going to do fire.
01:25So it's fine.
01:27I'm sure it was cool, of course, to introduce your music to a new audience out there.
01:30A lot of people probably getting familiar with you guys for the first time in that chapel audience.
01:33A lot of young people.
01:34But of course, you guys have been around forever.
01:37It's your 10-year anniversary of your first EP.
01:40I don't know if you guys knew that.
01:41No.
01:42Yeah. Does it feel like yesterday or does it feel like, wow, it's been 10 years?
01:49It feels like, wow, to me, how quickly time has gone by.
01:53Yeah.
01:54I would second that.
01:55I feel like time just goes by so fast, especially when you're doing something you love.
02:00And these last four years of just constantly touring have gone by incredibly fast.
02:05I didn't know it was our 10 years, you said.
02:07Yeah.
02:08Wow.
02:09Congrats, y'all.
02:10Woo, congrats.
02:11We did it.
02:12Yeah.
02:14If I say, give me in the past 10 years, the first thing that pops into your head memory-wise from the band,
02:19your favorite memory, just the first thing that jumps out in your mind, what do you think of?
02:26I really loved when we would finish up a song and literally just post it on SoundCloud the next day.
02:34We didn't have to wait or anything.
02:36It was just like, okay, I think we're done with it.
02:38Post it up.
02:39It was fun.
02:40I'll second that because I was going to say finishing Fire For You was a really fun night and we're dancing.
02:50Really excited about it.
02:51Knew there was something special.
02:53Excellent.
02:54I'm going to third that.
02:55Okay.
02:56Yeah.
02:57There's nothing better than finishing a song when you put all this work into it and you finally hear the final product.
03:01Yeah.
03:02Just watching that immediate reaction has to be so satisfying.
03:05Congrats, Heartbeat Highway, all the success on that.
03:08In a couple of weeks from now we have Grammy nominations.
03:11Talk about is this like a huge, would this be a huge accomplishment for you guys?
03:16Is it super important to you guys if you were to get nominated for a Grammy?
03:19Which, fingers crossed.
03:21Yeah.
03:22I think it would be amazing and it would be just, yeah, an incredible thing.
03:27But at the same time, either way, we're happy to be out here sharing music with everyone
03:34and feel the amount of love and support that we have, you know, over the past 10 years here.
03:41That's a golf cart backfiring, by the way.
03:43Every once in a while you'll hear this bang.
03:45It's not a good chatter.
03:46What is that?
03:47We've gotten used to it.
03:48They're in Texas.
03:49Yes, exactly.
03:50It's very tight.
03:51You never know.
03:52You've been a six shooter.
03:53No, it's just a golf cart.
03:54We're fine.
03:55Finally, before I let you guys get out of here, thank you so much for doing this.
03:58You're one of my favorite bands to drive to.
04:00I'm sure you've probably heard this before.
04:02Sure.
04:03It's such great, like, 2 a.m. drive around a city music.
04:07Do you guys personally have bands that you like to listen to in that same kind of headspace?
04:11When you, like, go out late at night?
04:13Something just to, like, you know, keep the vibes right, I guess.
04:17Sure.
04:18I like Def Punk.
04:19It's definitely, like, a big one for me.
04:20Yeah.
04:21Really good.
04:22Yep.
04:23I'm obsessed with this band called Choir Boy.
04:24Okay.
04:25I know them.
04:26So they're just always on for me.
04:27Okay.
04:28What about you?
04:29In the car, I usually love to listen to our demos that we're working on.
04:32Yeah.
04:33Always working.
04:34Can I say Canons?
04:35Or else I've been playing Billie Eilish, Birds of a Feather a lot.
04:39Always good.
04:40Over and over in between the Canons demos.
04:42Yeah, just back and forth, back and forth.
04:44All good suggestions.
04:45So everyone, go listen to Canons in the car everywhere and at ACL Music Fest today.
04:50Please do, yes.
04:51Thank you guys so much for being here.
04:52Thank you so much.
04:53We appreciate it.
04:54Come back soon.
04:56Appreciate it.
