00:00So, of course, if you remember yesterday, we gave you that story about Tony Bennett
00:08retiring as the head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers.
00:12Here he is this morning at his press conference, guys.
00:14It's not got nothing to do with health.
00:15It's got to do with the state of college athletics.
00:17No, this, this game, I think it's right for players, student athletes to receive revenue.
00:23Please don't mistake me.
00:24I do.
00:25I think it is.
00:28But the game and college athletics is not in a healthy spot.
00:31It's not.
00:32And there needs to be change.
00:34And it's not going to go back.
00:35I think I was equipped to do the job here the old way.
00:38And there's, that's who I am.
00:40And that's how it was.
00:41And my staff has buoyed me along to get to this point.
00:44But there needs to be change.
00:46It's going to be a closer to a professional model.
00:49Coach Carlisle, I think it is, where there's got to be collective bargaining.
00:52There has to be a restriction on the salary pool that teams can spend.
00:56There has to be transfer regulation restrictions.
01:00There has to be some limits on the agent involvement to these young guys.
01:07And there are good agents and there are bad agents.
01:08And they're driving some of this stuff that we're in.
01:11And I worry a lot about the mental health of the student athletes as all this stuff
01:15comes down.
01:16And it's, sometimes when you're in it, you have to step away.
01:20And maybe I can be an advocate for the student athletes and the coaches to get the changes.
01:26You know, that, I mean, that was so unbelievably poignant.
01:29And I thought he made a lot of fresh comments that need to be heard.
01:34And I think what he's doing is brave.
01:37That he's walking away from the bullshack that college sports has become with the haves
01:42and have-nots and agents and paying these kids millions.
01:46And some get all this money and others get nothing.
01:50I think it's a joke.
01:51I think it's ruining college athletics and so does he.
01:54That's why he walked away.
01:56I don't blame him.
01:57I don't blame him either.
01:58And I think others have.
01:59He's just the first one to admit that's why.
02:01I think other guys have done it too.
02:03Saban.
02:04I think that's the same reason Chip Kelly left UCLA.
02:06He just wanted to go coach.
02:08And he went to go be an offensive coordinator.
02:10They don't want to deal with the nonsense that what college athletics have become now.
