00:43Et, bien sûr, on va discuter si l'iPhone 15

01:15All right, let's get started with the unboxing here.
01:17So, in terms of the price, the iPhone 15 comes in at $899
01:22or £799,
01:24which is actually the same price in the US
01:27and slightly cheaper here in the UK,
01:29which is always great to see
01:31and will start at 128 gigabytes.
01:33So, here we go guys.
01:35Here we have this brand new blue color.
01:37First impressions, it is barely blue.
01:40You can see compared to my white table,
01:42it almost looks the same.
01:43There's just the ever so slight subtle hint of that blue color,
01:47but it does look really nice.
01:48Then here on the aluminum frame on the sides,
01:51the color is a little bit more apparent.
01:53It's really sort of an ice baby blue.
01:55I think the color palette this year
01:57is definitely very watercolor-esque.
02:00It's definitely a safer approach,
02:01but at the same time,
02:02it does look very bright and quite clean.
02:04And I think the blue here is probably my favorite
02:07of the regular iPhone 15 line.
02:09I think it looks really clean and minimalistic.
02:12But let's put that off to the side for a sec
02:13and see what else we get included in the box.
02:16So, here first on the top,
02:17we have the regular design by Apple in California.
02:20Then I, of course, still have the SIM tool
02:22as I am based in the UK.
02:23So, thankfully, we still have the SIM tray.
02:25We have your warranty, your quick start information,
02:28and a single Apple sticker.
02:29Unfortunately, not color-coded.
02:31It would have been nice to see this
02:32on the same blue color as the iPhone.
02:35Beneath that, we have one of the big changes
02:37coming to the iPhone 15 line.
02:39And that is, of course,
02:40the switch from lightning over to USB-C.
02:43Now, this is really great
02:44as, of course, USB-C is that universal standard
02:47as is implied in USB.
02:48It also means that you can use any other charger
02:50to charge your phone.
02:51So, instead of having to bring a USB-C charger
02:53for 90% of your tech
02:55and that one lightning charger
02:56for that one iPhone,
02:57you can now use that USB-C charger
02:59for all of your devices.
03:01Now, one thing I'm trying to figure out here
03:03is whether this cable is color-matched
03:05as on the surface,
03:06there does appear to be ever so slight
03:09of a blue tint to the cable
03:11when I compare it to the phone.
03:12It doesn't look as white as the table,
03:14but I'm going to have to look this up afterwards
03:16and I'll be sure to leave some text on screen here
03:19to confirm whether this is, in fact,
03:21color-matched or not.
03:23Honestly, I'm still not sure,
03:25but I'm leaning towards it not being.
03:28Otherwise, it is so subtle
03:29that Apple's playing tricks with my mind
03:31and thinking that this is, in fact,
03:33color-matched,
03:34but I don't actually think it is.
03:36It would have been nice to see if it was.
03:38All right, so let's put this all off to the side
03:40and take a closer look
03:42at the iPhone 15 itself here.
03:44It feels really nice to the touch,
03:46especially that matte glass on the back.
03:48I think this is a really big upgrade
03:50coming from the shiny glass that we had on the 14.
03:52We'll do a more thorough comparison here in a sec,
03:55but this is really nice to the touch.
03:57It will also resist fingerprints much better
03:59and I think it looks cleaner
04:00and feels good in the hand.
04:01So let's go and do the peel here.
04:03Here we go.
04:04Three, two, one.
04:08Voila, there we go.
04:09Looking super clean.
04:10Let's go ahead and boot up the phone here,
04:12press and hold the side button.
04:14Now, and this will automatically show
04:16the biggest change coming to the iPhone 15 line
04:18and one of them is definitely the Dynamic Island
04:20that we now get on the top.
04:22Now, this is brought from last year's iPhone 14 Pro
04:24and 14 Pro Max.
04:25And the Dynamic Island is a great way
04:27to quickly see notifications or switch between apps.
04:30So for example, your music app, a timer.
04:32It's great to have that almost secondary display
04:35within your primary display.
04:36I think over the years, more and more apps
04:38have started to take advantage of this Dynamic Island feature.
04:41And I think it has evolved over the past year
04:44to becoming quite a useful thing to have
04:46and something I do miss on phones that don't have it.
04:48And here it is, guys, booted up in the hand.
04:51Looks really great.
04:52Now, what is especially cool about this display
04:54is it's actually twice as bright as the regular iPhone 14
04:57going up to 2,000 nits of brightness.
04:59Now, previously, this was reserved for the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max,
05:03but to now have this in the regular 15 as well
05:05is really great as this essentially means
05:07that not only is your display going to be visible in the sun,
05:10it's actually going to be super bright and clear to read.
05:13So basically, no matter the situation,
05:15you'll always be able to read the display on your phone.
05:17I think that is super important.
05:19And like last year, we, of course, also have
05:21the Plus model of the iPhone 15.
05:23So this is the regular model, which comes in at 6.1 inches,
05:26and then the Plus model comes in at 6.7.
05:29Now, unfortunately, the display is still 60 Hertz.
05:32As I'm scrolling around, already, you can feel that difference.
05:35If you are coming from 120 Hertz,
05:37you will feel the difference to 60 Hertz.
05:39At the same time, though, if you are used to 60 Hertz,
05:42I would say 60 Hertz is still okay,
05:44but I would have loved to see at least maybe 90 Hertz
05:47on the 15, regular 15 models.
05:49Now, holding the phone in the hand,
05:51one of the differences that doesn't really show
05:53as obvious in pictures as it does in person
05:55is the slightly rounded edges
05:57that we get along the frame of the phone.
05:59So compared to the previous model,
06:01where it's really a sharp sort of edge
06:03going all the way around,
06:04we now get slightly rounded corners,
06:06and already, I can tell you, this feels great in the hand.
06:08It feels just a little bit more rounder.
06:10It doesn't dig as much in the palm,
06:12especially going around the corners.
06:13You probably know this if you use your phone without a case.
06:16You get those lines forming around your hand
06:18where the corner of the phone sits.
06:20I don't think that'll be an issue with the 15,
06:22also on the 15 Pro, thanks to this more rounded edge.
06:25So I think it's a really welcome addition
06:27that I'm glad to see.
06:28And then here on the back,
06:29we have also a brand new camera system.
06:31Now, it may look similar to last year,
06:33but on the inside, it's actually very different,
06:35and that's because it finally upgrades
06:38to the 48 megapixel sensor
06:40that was first introduced with the 14 Pro from last year
06:43and uses quad pixels to take much higher resolution
06:46and better detailed 12 megapixel photos.
06:49Now, I will do a very thorough camera comparison
06:51comparing it to the last year's iPhone 14,
06:53as well as the 14 Pro,
06:55to see how much better it is
06:56or where it stacks up between those two.
06:58But either way, this is a big upgrade,
07:01not just in resolution,
07:02but also in detail and dynamic range as well.
07:06Now, before we do a brief side-by-side comparison
07:08between the iPhone 15 and the previous iPhone 14
07:11and talk about whether it's upgrading and for who,
07:14let me introduce you to Spigen's slim line
07:16of protective and stylish cases for the iPhone 15.
07:20The Ultra Hybrid MagFit and the Ultra Hybrid MagFit S
07:23work with your MagSafe accessories
07:25and use DuraClear technology to stay clear over time.
07:29Plus, the MagFit S also has a really neat built-in stand,
07:33and this allows you to prop up your phone
07:35while still wirelessly charging all at the same time.
07:38Super useful, especially if you're traveling on the go.
07:42And then for a more utilitarian look,
07:44there is the MagArmor MagFit,
07:46which now features this really unique chevron pattern,
07:49which not only feels great to the hand,
07:51but also looks really cool
07:52and is, of course, fully MagSafe compatible as well.
07:55Then to really stand out,
07:56there is the Ultra Hybrid MagFit 01,
07:59which gives a futuristic look,
08:01really great detailing on the back
08:03showing the inside of your iPhone 15,
08:05and, of course, also retains that MagSafe compatibility.
08:08And then to charge,
08:09the OneTap Pro MagFit is probably the ideal way to do so.
08:13It has nice and strong magnets,
08:15so all you have to do is just place your phone
08:17and then it automatically aligns to charge.
08:19And then on the go,
08:20the OMAG ring is not only a handy way
08:22to add more grip to your phone,
08:24but since it rotates 360 degrees,
08:26you can also use it as a stand to prop up your phone.
08:30And it can also be instantly added or removed,
08:32just like that.
08:33If you'd like to add some accent color to your iPhone,
08:36the Ultra Hybrid comes in a range of colors,
08:38all featuring that DuraClear technology for lasting clarity
08:42and is a great way to mix and match
08:44with your brand new iPhone 15.
08:46So to protect and add functionality
08:49to your brand new iPhone 15,
08:50be sure to check out this fantastic line of cases
08:53and accessories from Spigen
08:54via the links in the description.
08:56Okay, so now I want to do a brief design comparison
08:59between the iPhone 15 and last year's iPhone 14.
09:02So here we go.
09:03I'm going to put them side by side.
09:05You can see there are definitely some similarities.
09:07So we have the same sort of diagonal
09:08two lens camera system.
09:10Colors are very different.
09:11So of course we have midnight,
09:13and then we have the blue,
09:14which is of course a much lighter color here as well.
09:17Now, let me do a quick comparison
09:18to see the actual dimensions of the phones themselves,
09:22because if I put them side by side,
09:24it does appear that the 15
09:26is ever so slightly more narrow
09:28and actually a little bit taller, I would say.
09:31So maybe a little bit more narrow,
09:32a little bit taller.
09:33Then in terms of the thickness,
09:35it's going to be difficult to assess
09:37because of the camera bumps.
09:38But if I put them on a table,
09:40it feels very similar.
09:42Maybe the 15 is ever so slightly thicker,
09:44but very similar indeed.
09:45Though of course, thanks to those rounded corners,
09:47this will mean that your iPhone 14 case
09:50probably won't work on the iPhone 15,
09:52but you do really feel those rounded corners.
09:54And I'll do my best to sort of capture this
09:56on the camera here,
09:58where you get that much sharper edge
10:00on the iPhone 14
10:01and a slightly more curved feel
10:03here on the 15.
10:04And while I think the sharper edge does look cool,
10:07I think it certainly has an industrial feel
10:09and look to it.
10:10From an ergonomics perspective,
10:11your hands, of course,
10:12it doesn't sit as comfortably in the hand
10:14and already,
10:15just from holding the two side by side,
10:17the 15 feels much more comfortable in the hand,
10:20especially if you're going to be using it
10:21for many hours at a time,
10:22like many of us do.
10:24And then here on the front,
10:25a good moment to highlight the difference
10:27between the typical notch
10:28and then the dynamic island on the iPhone 15.
10:31So again, the dynamic island
10:33does take up a little bit more screen space
10:35in terms of it coming a little bit lower
10:37than the notch,
10:38but overall is smaller,
10:39does look a little bit cleaner
10:41and again, just gives the phone
10:42a more modern feel.
10:43Though I do look forward to the day
10:45where they completely eliminate the notch
10:47and just have an underscreen camera
10:48once the technology catches up.
10:51Now, of course, on the back,
10:52we also have that matte finish
10:53as opposed to that glossy finish.
10:54And here we go.
10:55You can see exactly
10:56why this is great to have.
10:57Look at all those fingerprints
10:59on the iPhone 14.
11:00No longer the case on the 15,
11:02so much cleaner.
11:03Also feels nice.
11:04You can kind of hear that texture
11:06much better than that glossy glass.
11:08Feels better in the hand
11:10and should also resist fingerprints better.
11:12So all in all,
11:13I see that as a win.
11:14Now, one thing that did stand out to me
11:16on the 14,
11:17if you look close at my iPhone 14,
11:19you can see I do have a few chips
11:20in the aluminum.
11:21So you can see in the frame right here
11:23as well as there.
11:24And you can see
11:25these are really highlighted,
11:26particularly on the midnight models
11:28since the natural color of the aluminum
11:30is, of course, much lighter
11:31than the midnight color of these bands.
11:33So what that means
11:34is once that coating on the top
11:36kind of chips off,
11:37which typically will happen with falls,
11:39the natural color of the aluminum underneath
11:41will come out and show.
11:43So this is why I do think
11:44a lighter color,
11:45such as the blue here on the iPhone 15,
11:47will hold up better,
11:48especially if you're going to get scratches
11:50or dents on the aluminum frame,
11:52which can happen over time.
11:54Again, especially from drops,
11:55as you can see here on my 14.
11:57So that is something to consider
11:59if you're choosing between
12:00a lighter or darker color
12:02as these lighter colors
12:03will more closely resemble
12:04the natural color of the aluminum.
12:06In terms of the processors,
12:08the A16 chip on the iPhone 15
12:10will probably last around six to seven years
12:12of software support and security updates,
12:14which is far ahead of anyone else
12:16in the industry.
12:17And that's, of course,
12:18one of the unique selling points
12:19of the iPhone
12:20is their incredible longevity
12:21and software support.
12:23And that A16 chip
12:24will likely last one to two years longer
12:26compared to the A15 chip
12:28found on the iPhone 14.
12:30Now, in terms of battery life,
12:31Apple quotes the same 20 hours
12:33of video playback.
12:34On my iPhone 14,
12:35with typical mixed day-to-day use,
12:37I got anywhere from seven to eight hours
12:39of screen on time,
12:40which is to say
12:41that it can last me an all day.
12:43But if I have an all,
12:44say a whole workday,
12:45and I'm going out in the evening,
12:47then it can get a little bit tough.
12:48And that's where a quick top-up
12:50is good to have and often needed.
12:52Unfortunately, though,
12:53that charge isn't too quick
12:54since it only supports
12:55up to 20 watt charging,
12:56and that is the same
12:57for the iPhone 15.
12:58I would have loved to see
12:59Apple introduce
13:00at least the 27 watts
13:01that we get on the Pro line,
13:02or even something like 35 or 40 watt
13:05to allow for true fast charging.
13:08But anyway, guys,
13:09I am super excited
13:10to start testing
13:11and using the brand new iPhone 15.
13:13I'm really excited
13:14about this release
13:15because this year,
13:16it really feels like
13:17the regular iPhone
13:18got a much bigger upgrade
13:19compared to last year,
13:20bringing many
13:21of the 14 Pro,
13:22Pro Max features
13:23now to the 15 line.
13:25And again,
13:26that much nicer design,
13:27USB-C,
13:28better camera,
13:29nice glass,
13:30matte glass on the back,
13:31better processor,
13:32and a brighter display,
13:33which I think
13:34is one of those
13:35welcome features
13:36that once you notice it,
13:37you're going to be
13:38very happy to have.
13:39Now, in terms of
13:40whether you should upgrade,
13:41of course,
13:42I'm going to leave
13:43my final thoughts
13:44for my full review,
13:45which is coming very soon.
13:46But just based off
13:47these first impressions
13:48and seeing what
13:49the iPhone 15 brings
13:50compared to the rest
13:51of the line,
13:52I would say
13:53if you are on the iPhone 14,
13:54this is not enough reason
13:55to upgrade.
13:56But if you are, say,
13:57on the iPhone 10,
13:5811, or even the 12,
13:59I do believe
14:00that the iPhone 15,
14:01at least from the way
14:02it's looking now,
14:03does bring enough
14:04to the table
14:05to sort of warrant
14:06a worthy upgrade,
14:07especially that camera,
14:08the dynamic island,
14:09and of course,
14:10USB-C,
14:11which I think
14:12for the future
14:13is a pretty big deal.
14:14So, based on my
14:15initial impressions,
14:16I got to say,
14:18I would definitely
14:19keep an eye
14:20on the iPhone 15.
14:21But anyway, guys,
14:22let me know
14:23if you have any questions
14:24at all about the iPhone 15
14:25or what you'd like me
14:26to cover in my full review
14:27video coming soon,
14:28as well as my comparisons
14:29to the other iPhone lineup
14:30and, of course,
14:31the S23
14:32or perhaps any other
14:33Android phones as well.
14:34Thank you so much
14:35for watching, guys.
14:36I hope you enjoyed this video
14:37and I'll see you
14:38in the next video.
14:39Take care.
