00:13at my pick for the best all-round mouse in 2020.
00:16Let's get started.
00:17As someone who spends most of their day working from MacBooks, I really enjoy the excellent
00:21built-in trackpad.
00:23That said, for some instances, I prefer to use a mouse, or better yet, use both the trackpad
00:27and the mouse together to maximize productivity and comfort.
00:31So here's what I look for in the best all-round mouse.
00:34First is good ergonomic design.
00:36It has to also be wireless, rechargeable, customizable to some degree with programmable
00:41buttons, and provide good feature-to-price value.
00:45These are the key requirements.
00:46Any additional features are nice to have.
00:48With that in mind, my recommendation for the best all-round mouse for 2020 is the mouse
00:53I've been using for the past two years.
00:55This is the MX Master from Logitech.
00:57Logitech currently sells the latest version of the MX Master, the MX Master 3, and this
01:02retails for 100 US dollars.
01:04The MX Master, however, is currently available new from Amazon for almost half that price
01:09at 57 US dollars, and I've even seen it cheaper on other websites.
01:13The MX Master may not be the newest model in the line, but it does have the key features
01:17that make the MX Master series so great.
01:20So how does this mouse stack up?
01:21Well, let's take a look.
01:22First, design.
01:23The MX Master feels great to hold.
01:25The rounded design naturally curves to the palm of your hand, and I've used this mouse
01:29day in, day out, and it remains comfortable to use, putting no unnecessary strain on
01:34your arm or wrist.
01:35Second, connectivity.
01:37The MX Master is wireless and can be connected to up to three devices using Bluetooth or
01:41one device using the included wireless USB-A adapter.
01:45The mouse also has a built-in rechargeable battery.
01:47Unfortunately, it does charge via the included micro-USB cable.
01:51This I would say is the only place where the age of the mouse really shows.
01:55If you want USB-C, you're going to have to get the MX Master 3.
01:58That said, the battery life is great.
02:00I only need to charge the mouse around once every two to three months with daily use.
02:04Third, customizability.
02:06And this brings us to the mouse's main selling point.
02:08The MX Master features two scroll wheels.
02:11The first is for vertical scrolling.
02:13This feature is what Logitech calls Smart Speed Adaptive Scrolling.
02:17What this really means is depending on how fast you scroll, the wheel will either scroll
02:20normally or it will move freely, allowing you to zoom through pages very quickly.
02:25This wheel can also be locked in either mode.
02:27The second scroll wheel is found on the left side.
02:29This is used for vertical scrolling, and this I use all the time, especially when editing
02:34in Final Cut.
02:35This allows you to scroll through your timeline straight from the mouse.
02:38The second wheel works well.
02:40I do wish it was a little bit larger and less stiff, which would make it easier to scroll
02:44faster.
02:45In addition to the scroll wheels, the mouse has four customizable buttons, and here is
02:48how I use them.
02:49First, on the top, I use this button to switch between the scrolling modes on the main scroll
02:53wheel.
02:54On the side, next to the second scroll wheel, there is a set of buttons that I use for volume
02:57up and volume down.
02:59Finally, the button I use most, and that is the big thumb button that I use for mission
03:02control, allowing me to see all my open windows with one click.
03:06All of these buttons can be customized using an excellent free application from Logitech
03:09that works on both Mac and Windows.
03:11And finally, fourth, value.
03:13Of course, if you're looking for a basic mouse, you can find one for 10 US dollars.
03:17However, if you're looking for a tool that can be incorporated into your daily workflow
03:21and one that brings valuable features to the table, for this price, the MX Master is by
03:25far your best option.
03:27This makes the MX Master my 2020 recommendation for best all-around mouse.
