00:00Hey guys, I'm TomoTechChap and this is the first one of these I've ever seen.
00:10Now a big thank you to Asus ROG for giving me early access to this, supporting the channel
00:15by offering to sponsor this video and actually giving me the chance to talk to this guy.
00:20Hi Alan.
00:22Hello.
00:24So this is not your ordinary ROG Zephyrus G14.
00:27Oh no, this is a special edition, which you might be able to tell from the title of the
00:31video and also the logos on the box and the guy you just saw, but this is the Alan Walker
00:36G14.
00:37He's the nicest guy ever and also massively famous as a DJ and record producer.
00:43You've probably heard or seen this video, which I'd love to play for you, but the studio
00:49execs would chase me down and kick me off YouTube.
00:52So Asus have teamed up with Mr. Walker, which I think is the second time they've done it
00:57for a custom G14, but there's a very cool feature I want to show you because this will
01:04be actually on sale, this limited edition version of the G14 and while we've got, you
01:08know, the usual ROG Alan Walker sleeve, I'm just going to chuck that over there and also
01:13some other merch.
01:15I mean, you could just go full Alan Walker if you want, hat, socks.
01:23People are going to think I'm Alan Walker or if not, like, why am I wearing his socks?
01:26Get rid of that.
01:28So inside we have the laptop, which you'd hope or else this would be a really short
01:32video and straight away from the two fabric belts that we have on the lid here and the
01:37blue ROG and Alan Walker nameplate at the bottom, this is something a bit different
01:42with the AW logo on the, well, AW keys, which makes sense.
01:46The rest of the keyboard is a three color layout with light and dark gray and a splash
01:51of blue.
01:52The touchpad also has a very subtle new pattern, which apparently was inspired by his music
01:57equalizer.
01:58And then booting up, we have a custom animation with sound that he made and then a very cool
02:03custom wallpaper on the desktop.
02:05One of the best bits though, is this G14 has the anime matrix LEDs on the back and it's
02:11an Alan Walker exclusive specter blue color, which I must admit does look very good.
02:16And it comes with four unique animations only on this laptop.
02:21And then on the inside of this Alan Walker G14, we get the Ryzen 9 5900HS and the RTX
02:273050 Ti with 16 gigs of RAM and a terabyte of storage.
02:31So plenty of room for all the Alan Walker albums.
02:34And that's along with a 2560 by 1600 120 Hertz display, 100% DCI-P3 of course, so it's
02:41nice and color accurate and it weighs just 1.75 kilograms or 3.85 pounds.
02:47But what I love about this is if I just plunk that there and then bring this over, this
02:52is the box that it came in, but there's actually a little USB-C port on the side.
02:56It took me a while to find this.
02:58And then where's the ports on the other side?
03:01Like so.
03:04Magic should ensue.
03:06Aha.
03:07And if you thought gaming laptops, or even indeed myself, couldn't be any nerdier or
03:13more cringy, well, how about now?
03:21So essentially we have a sampler deck with some pre-made ROG and Alan Walker little sound
03:29effects and visual effects.
03:31We can play one of his songs, which is called Alan Walker Sorry, which I might be by the
03:37end of this video.
03:38And then you can listen to this and then add in your own little samples.
03:41We can switch to three different sample categories, if you will.
03:46So there's six to 18 in total.
03:48And then if you're any good, you can sort of time it to the drop.
03:56Or you could be like me and make a pig's ear of it.
03:59The only downside is you can't record your own custom samples, which is a bit of a shame.
04:04But hopefully they'll take that feedback on board for next time.
04:08Possibly the best bit, though, is that you can actually add in any song you like.
04:11You just have to sort of import the downloaded song.
04:15This is some license free music I got from Epidemic Sound.
04:18And then it works.
04:20So I can turn that up and the lights on the deck kind of match up with what's playing.
04:29And you can still use the samples with any song you like, essentially.
04:34That's literally it.
05:00Now, you may be wondering, how much did Alan Walker actually have to do with this?
05:05Was he really that involved?
05:07Well, I asked him.
05:09How much of this is actually you and not just them and their marketing department?
05:14How authentic is this?
05:15No, what I would say is like, they've given me the opportunity to play around with a bunch
05:19of things.
05:20I should be able to handle like some pretty much hard on production work and also DJ prep
05:26and like for my shows and also in general gaming.
05:29I've been playing around with a lot of different designs on the laptop.
05:32Like I handpicked the colors on the majority of all things because, yeah, like I like blue.
05:37I've seen my team on a computer and I mentioned the nameplates, the A&W letters are customized
05:45to be like specifically like the A&W logo, like my logo.
05:49I also created a custom boot up sound and animation.
05:53What I think is the most important thing to kind of point out, which I also like the most
05:57is the remix box that comes along with the PC, which is like customized new technology
06:02almost.
06:03Did you recall those mixes, those samples on the box?
06:06Yeah, like all the samples and everything have been specifically created just for that
06:11box.
06:12So getting to have your hands on and look at like the different fabrics and like the
06:18feel of like the different plastic and then picked colors and like it's very different
06:24from anything else I would say.
06:26Is there anything that you would have liked to have had on it, but they said can't be
06:29done?
06:30We can't do that.
06:32I need a 3090 inside the laptop.
06:36I mean, we all do.
06:37I have to ask because in the box you get lots of other nice merch, Alan Walker merch.
06:42Do you wear your own Alan Walker socks?
06:44Do your socks say your name on them right now?
06:48Right now, I don't have socks on, but because I took them off because it was getting too
06:52warm.
06:53But I have like the Alan Walker socks actually right here.
06:58So how much is this going to cost?
07:00Well, Asus tell me they're aiming for around $2,000 with this, which would be about a $200
07:05or £200 premium for this Alan Walker edition with the ROG remix box and all the custom
07:11designs compared to a similarly specced regular G14.
07:15Anyway, that is just a quick look and unboxing of the Alan Walker G14.
07:19Thank you so much for watching guys.
07:20And I'll see you next time right here on the tech chat.
07:23I watched a lot of like Marcus Brownlee tech cracks and I sometimes come across this guy
07:30called the tech chap.
07:32No, I've never heard of him.
07:34Never heard of him.
