00:00Economists have praised the federal budget for 2025, describing it as forward-thinking
00:07and distinctly Madani, with a strong emphasis on the long-term restructuring of the economy.
00:13Bawani Lelchaman of Sunway University said Budget 2025 focused on enhancing Malaysia's
00:18global competitiveness by supporting sectors such as semiconductors, green energy and Islamic
00:25finance.
00:26One of the benchmarks under the Madani Economy Framework is to make Malaysia among the top
00:3112 in the Global Competitive Index in 10 years.
00:34Bawani also noted the significant resources being channeled towards automation, AI and
00:39machine learning, all of which have the potential to attract both foreign and domestic investment.
00:45The budget allocated RM10 million to the National Artificial Intelligence Office, while another
00:50RM50 million will be used to expand AI-related education to all research universities.
00:56Meanwhile, Nungsari Ahmad Radi, chairman of Kizana Research Institute, said the 2025 budget
01:02reflected Anwar's Madani philosophy of being fiscally prudent but emphasizing the development
01:07of a stronger safety net.
01:10He said it was also forward-looking in its emphasis on future industries and was determined
01:14to reposition Malaysia as a high-income nation.
