00:00How to make your home more monastic. I've been reading this really famous
00:06Catholic novel called In This House a Breed and it's just really making me
00:10wish I had some convent monastery vibes in my life. I've started playing Gregorian
00:14chant in my house throughout the day, especially songs sung during the Mass
00:18and at Benediction and also the Salve Regina. And this is kind of two for one
00:22because it's helping my son get used to hearing those songs sung in Latin. A lot
00:26of times I'll play those songs during quiet time in our house or when I'm
00:30doing cleanup or chores. Lighting more candles near sacred images. And bonus
00:34points if it's one of those Catholic candles that smells like chrism. And I
00:37love structuring your day around certain times of prayer. So at 3 p.m. I have an
00:42alarm clock that sounds like a bell go off and I know that it's time for me and
00:46my son to pray the Angelus. Eating at least one meal in silence. And that's not
00:50necessarily doable if you have small children but it's nice to just attempt
00:55not be distracted with things like TV or phone or books or other things that are
00:59making noise. And this last one is more or less just a really fun thing. Having a
01:03monastery bell in your kitchen that you ring for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
