00:00What's up guys, we are back with another comparison.
00:03This one was requested and one of my favorite things
00:05to do on this channel is compare new flagships
00:08to the old flagships.
00:10So let's see what the big difference is here.
00:14So let's go ahead and dive in.
00:16So the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is one of Samsung's top flagships.
00:21It's up there with the S23 Ultra.
00:23It's a $1,000 phone.
00:24And the Note 20 Ultra you can find in the USA at least
00:28for around $350 to $400 depending on the condition
00:32and stuff like that.
00:33So let's go ahead and dive in here.
00:35Is this phone worth upgrading if you were interested
00:38in just getting the latest phone here?
00:41One of the biggest differences here hardware wise
00:45is that the Galaxy Z Flip can fold down like that.
00:50And it makes it a very kind of compact phone.
00:53You have an outside screen on here as well too
00:57which is pretty cool.
00:58So you can interact with widgets and stuff like that.
01:01So it can be pretty cool for people that are interested
01:05in this type of form factor.
01:08And a lot of people think this is the future.
01:10Also you have the folding one that folds out
01:12into like a bigger tablet.
01:14But that's essentially the biggest difference here
01:17is that this one can become more compact
01:19as with the Note obviously it can't fold.
01:22Now a big hardware difference here is you have an S-Pen
01:25built into the Note as well too which is really nice.
01:28So basically it's really good for jotting down notes.
01:32Doing digital artwork on here as well too is fantastic.
01:36And Samsung throws in a lot of software features as well
01:39that you can take advantage of with the Note phones.
01:44So hardware wise the Flip is not IP68 dust
01:50and water resistant like the Note.
01:52So the Note you can actually submerge in water
01:55and it'll be fine.
01:56This one is IPX8 water resistant and really I wouldn't,
02:01like you could get this wet like in the rain
02:03or if you spill something on it it won't break.
02:06But I would not get this like if you drop it in a pool
02:09or something like that.
02:10Nine times out of 10 it'll probably break.
02:12So that's also a big difference here.
02:15Now they're both very premium feeling phones.
02:17They're both glass and metal phones
02:20and they both have that really nice premium feel to them.
02:24And honestly the Note feels just a tad bit heavier
02:31but the Flip is actually not that.
02:33It's not super, super light phone like you would think.
02:36But that's pretty much the big hardware differences here.
02:40Also besides the SD card support which we'll get to later.
02:44All right let's talk about the screens
02:46because that is a pretty big thing here.
02:48So this is a pretty big difference.
02:49So the Flip does have a 6.7 inch display
02:53which is slightly smaller.
02:54The Note has a massive 6.9 inch display.
02:57It's a really big phone.
02:58And then it's dynamic AMOLED on the Flip HDR10+.
03:031,750 nits peak brightness.
03:05It's 1080p 425 for the PPI, 120 hertz of course.
03:09And then the outside display here
03:12it is a 3.4 inch panel on here.
03:16And it's super AMOLED.
03:17It's 720 by 748 and then it's 306 for the PPI.
03:22So again you have that dual display on the Flip.
03:26All right so basically the Note 20 Ultra
03:29has the 6.9 inch dynamic AMOLED display.
03:32It's 1440p, 120 hertz, HDR10+, with 496 for the PPI.
03:37But with the Note you can only use the 120 hertz
03:41at the full HD.
03:42You can't use it at the full resolution.
03:45So both displays are great.
03:46The biggest thing you'll notice upgrading
03:48from something like the Note to this phone
03:52is that you will notice there is a crease.
03:55Now the crease is, it's not like it's super in the way.
03:59It's kinda hard to see.
04:01But you guys can see right there,
04:02there is like a crease here.
04:04And you can feel it when you rub your hands
04:06across the middle of the display.
04:09And obviously that's not gonna be there on the Note.
04:13Now the crease, and again it's not a big deal.
04:15Sometimes you'll run your hand across it
04:17but sometimes you'll be scrolling most of the time
04:20from like right here or right here.
04:22So typically you're not gonna be scrolling in the middle.
04:24But yeah, you do have that crease right there
04:27that is a sacrifice you pay for having the outside display.
04:33But I think the Note's display is much better
04:37for viewing content.
04:38And I'll let you guys know why here.
04:41Basically because it just feels the screen more.
04:46All right, so let's talk about the specs a little bit more.
04:48So here are the Geekbench scores.
04:50You can see the single and multi-core.
04:52They're both running Android 13.
04:55So the Note has the Snapdragon 865 chip on here.
04:59SD card support is on board.
05:01128 gigs of internal storage, 12 gigs of RAM.
05:05The Flip, it does have the latest Snapdragon HN2 processor.
05:10And then it has 256 gigs of internal storage,
05:12eight gigs of RAM, no SD card support.
05:17Now, this surprises people all the time,
05:18but the Note is still very fast.
05:22It's about just as fast as the Flip
05:26or the S23 for that matter.
05:28And it actually is a little bit better optimized
05:31for gaming in my opinion,
05:32as well too what you're gonna see.
05:34But as you can see,
05:35they're basically on par with each other.
05:37This surprises like a lot of people.
05:40But yeah, so let's go ahead and launch Subway Surf.
05:44And then we can get into PUBG here.
05:46But yeah, it surprises people.
05:49It's really not that far off from the latest chip, right?
05:56Let's go ahead and get into PUBG here.
05:59All right, so as you guys can see here,
06:01now the Snapdragon HN2, of course,
06:03it is a very good chip, very efficient.
06:06But we can't get 90 frames here on PUBG.
06:08Now, it still plays very, very well here at HDR Extreme.
06:12But what I love about the older Galaxy phones
06:15is that these phones are just really well optimized.
06:18You can see I can play PUBG at 90 frames here,
06:21and it's just super, super smooth.
06:23And now it just looks better.
06:26Yeah, so like I said, a lot of people,
06:28this actually, again, surprises a lot of people.
06:31The older phones in some cases are even better for gaming.
06:35And this is across the board
06:37even with Fortnite, Call of Duty Mobile as well too.
06:41So these are just some really well optimized phones,
06:43and like I said, you just get
06:45a better gaming experience for cheaper.
06:47All right, let's check out these stereo speakers.
06:49We're at max volume.
06:50♪ Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey ♪
06:57♪ Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey ♪
07:03♪ Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey ♪
07:08Yeah, I actually think the note might be a little bit louder, but it's not by much.
07:36So the speakers on both of these phones are really good.
07:39I think the note just has a little bit of a louder sound.
07:42Also, I want to talk about the hardware.
07:45So this is actually something that Samsung did that I was actually a big fan of.
07:49I've always been a big fan of this, and that's putting the fingerprint scanner in the power
07:55button.
07:56I've always been a huge fan of this.
07:58I like it over the in-display ones.
08:01I don't have an issue with the in-display fingerprint sensors.
08:03They're both fast, but it just feels a little bit more natural to me with the physical one
08:09on the power button.
08:11Also, here's one thing that I noticed, right?
08:14So with the note and the S23, I don't know why they left this out here, but you have
08:19Samsung desktop support on here, and it's completely gone on the flip.
08:25And I don't know why, because this is a flagship phone, so it should have it.
08:31I don't know if this is Samsung's way of trying to make it the S23 Ultra.
08:38I don't know.
08:39I don't know.
08:40Try to make it different.
08:41It's just weird that it doesn't have it.
08:42Am I tripping?
08:43It's not here.
08:45So yeah, so I just thought that was weird.
08:48I don't know why they don't have that on here.
08:51It's just a super random thing to do.
08:54So this is an area where I think a lot of people find surprising is with the cameras.
08:59So let's go ahead and talk about that.
09:02So with the flip, we do have a dual camera setup.
09:05It's a 12 megapixel standard, and then you also have a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
09:11It also shoots in 4K 60.
09:14It has a 10 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 30.
09:18The Note 20 Ultra has a 108 megapixel standard lens, so you get way more detail.
09:25A 12 megapixel periscope telephoto lens that does 5x optical zoom.
09:30So the Note is still going to pretty much kill the Z Flip when it comes to zoom because
09:36it has 5x optical zoom.
09:39Not only that, but you have the hybrid zoom as well too.
09:43But it also has the 12 megapixel ultra wide.
09:45It has the 8K 24, and then it has a 10 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60.
09:51So overall, the specs on the Note is just better for zooming, and I get it because this
09:59has to flip and stuff like that, so they can only do so much.
10:03But check out these stills.
10:04Let me know what you guys thought.
10:21Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
11:21Alright, so let's talk about battery life.
11:34So this is an area where I was a little surprised because I thought I was going to get the same
11:40sort of battery life with the S23 Ultra on the Flip 5, but so far just using it, it feels
11:45just like a normal phone.
11:48Really good battery life for sure, but it's not like that really good battery life I was
11:52getting on the S23.
11:55But yeah, so the Note, believe it or not, can still get around 6 hours of screen on
12:00time.
12:01I actually have a battery drain test on my channel, but yeah, you'll get better battery
12:05life on the Flip for sure.
12:06I don't think it's like a whole bunch more, probably like maybe an hour more screen on
12:11time.
12:12But yeah, so the battery life is pretty good on the Flip regardless.
12:15It has a 3700 mAh battery, 25W charging, wireless, and reverse wireless.
12:22And then on the Note, you do have a 4500 mAh battery, 25W, and then the same wireless and
12:29reverse wireless charging.
12:30So yeah, so I really like this comparison.
12:34It's pretty interesting.
12:37Which phone would you guys upgrade to a Flip phone like this?
12:41I really like the phone, but I don't know.
12:43The Note still has a lot of things that I still really like about it.
12:46I think the camera zooming capabilities are better, the screen, it's better for watching
12:53content.
12:54Yeah, there's still a lot to like about the Note actually.
12:58So what do you guys think?
12:59Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
