00:00Welcome back to TMZ Sports, Mike and Mojo.
00:08Mojo, unfortunately here we'll go from the DUI of a former NFL star quarterback to the
00:15DUI of the dad of a current star quarterback in Patrick Mahomes Sr.
00:21Now, Mojo, I'm sure people might remember, it was just a couple of months ago, beginning
00:26of February, as a matter of fact, that Patrick Mahomes Sr., who himself was a professional
00:31athlete, was a Major League Baseball relief pitcher back in the day.
00:34Well, Pat Mahomes Sr. was pulled over and arrested for DUI on February 3rd in Tyler,
00:42Texas.
00:43Now, we knew all that, Mojo.
00:44We have now learned, thanks to some video that we obtained this week, was that Pat Mahomes
00:50Sr. name-dropped his son to try and get out of the arrest.
00:56You don't have to take my word for it.
00:58The entire thing played out on police, right there, on police video.
01:03Watch this.
01:04My son is getting ready to play in the Super Bowl, okay?
01:08Yes, man.
01:09No, just listen to me.
01:11I am not drunk, I promise you.
01:14Okay.
01:15I've had some drinks, but he can't have this right now.
01:20Okay, sir.
01:21This can't, listen, this can't happen.
01:23Who's your son?
01:24Patrick Mahomes.
01:25Okay.
01:26I'm doing interviews five or six a day, and then, now, this s**t's going to be on the
01:33news, which is going to f**k him, and it's probably going to f**k him up.
01:36He probably won't win the Super Bowl, but that's fine.
01:39I mean, jeesh, talking about not taking responsibility.
01:42This was, Mojo, like we said, this was eight days before the Super Bowl.
01:46This is in Texas.
01:47The game, obviously, was not played in Texas.
01:50They ended up winning.
01:51The Chiefs ended up winning the Super Bowl.
01:52They beat the 49ers.
01:53Patrick Mahomes Sr. says he has not had a drink since that night.
01:57He ultimately struck a plea deal, because it was his third arrest for driving under
02:01the influence.
02:02Struck a plea deal.
02:03Mojo was on, or is on, probation for five years.
02:06But what do you make of that, Mojo, and him actually saying, hey, you shouldn't arrest
02:09me because my son's got a football game on Sunday?
02:12Not only did he say that, he said, if you don't let me off, we will lose the Super Bowl.
02:17Right.
02:18That's the fate of the Super Bowl on this arrest right here.
02:21I mean, it's not funny, but come on, man.
02:24It's shocking.
02:25Yeah, really, really bad.
02:28First of all, I mean, you have your own issues now, right?
02:32First of all, you shouldn't have drank and drove.
02:34We talk about that all the time.
02:36But you got to talk about how this affects your son's career.
02:40The mess you just dropped on his doorstep, all this he's going to have to deal with at
02:45a brutal time from the Super Bowl through now, now that we have the tape.
02:49This is still something that Patrick Mahomes is going to have to deal with.
02:53So rough situation for him.
02:55But senior over here, he's a former athlete.
02:58He's had media training.
03:00It's not like he can act like he didn't know what was going on or what to say.
03:04I mean, granted, everyone knows not to drink and drive.
03:07But when you're in the backseat of that cop car, you should know that less is more when
03:11you're speaking.
03:13The best thing the cop could have done as a favor to him was just get him to shut up.
03:17The more stuff he was saying, the more incriminating it was, the worse it makes him look, the more
03:23dirt that's being dropped on Patrick Mahomes' doorstep yet again.
03:29Just a problem.
03:30I mean, look, at least if he's claiming he hasn't drank since and he's gotten the message
03:34and this was a huge mistake and he's changed his tune since then, at least there's that.
03:40It's a consolation prize.
03:42You always hope to learn from your mistakes.
03:44At least with this one, no one died, you know, no serious harm was done.
03:48But yeah, still, you see that the video is just very cringe.
03:53It really is, Mojo.
03:54If you want to see a more extended version of this, go to the TMZ Sports website.
03:58There is a portion of the tape where Pat Sr. says, hey, you know, I'm not even really drunk.
04:02I might be over the legal limit, but I'm fine to drive.
04:06Turns out his blood alcohol content was 0.23.
04:10That is nearly two and a half times the legal limit, Mojo.
