MP for Dartford says the area needs a Lower Thames crossing to cut traffic

00:00It's an MP for Dartford here, I'm really just checking in with Dartford constituents who I know have had a really terrible day

00:06travelling around Dartford. As people know the right-hand tunnel in the crossing was closed

00:12because some hydraulic fluid was spilt and the carriageway needs to be resurfaced.

00:17And the sort of things I'm hearing about the chaos that's been caused include people taking

00:2340 minutes to get to Thai condo classes that would normally take a five-minute journey.

00:28It's taken three hours to get from Gravesend to Dartford. Send transport, special educational

00:35needs transport has sometimes actually had to give up taking young people to school because

00:42they couldn't fight their way through the traffic. So all in all it's been a terrible day,

00:46it underscores my campaign and that of other Dartford residents to get the lower Thames crossing

00:51built as soon as possible to take the pressure off the Dartford crossing which is

00:56really disrupting people's lives.
