00:00Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
00:04This comes eight years after his first inauguration,
00:07making him the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms.
00:11So what can we predict from Trump's presidency?
00:14And what will his second first 100 days bring?
00:17Well, to start with, Trump has already made his cabinet picks,
00:20and many of them have sailed through their Senate confirmation hearings
00:24relatively unscathed due to the Republican majority in the Senate.
00:28However, hearings are not yet scheduled for all of Trump's choices,
00:32including some of the most contentious,
00:33such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for health secretary.
00:37And what about the allegations against Trump?
00:39The two federal prosecutions for mishandling classified documents
00:43have already been dismissed on the grounds of presidential immunity.
00:47Trump will be sentenced for his hush money case against Stormy Daniels,
00:50though the judge confirmed he won't be facing jail.
00:53As for the state case over election interference in Georgia,
00:56there's no chance that a trial will take place until he's out of office,
01:00if it takes place at all.
01:01So what about Trump's policies?
01:03In his first press conference of the year,
01:05the president-elect said he wanted to rename the Gulf of Mexico
01:09the Gulf of America,
01:10discuss a possible military seizure of Greenland and the Panama Canal,
01:14and pledge to revive access to TikTok in the US.
01:17But what about his actual campaign promises?
01:20It's clear that the economy will be one of his key priorities
01:23in his first 100 days.
01:24Trump wants to make a quick start on cutting taxes
01:27and protecting US business from foreign competition.
01:30Trump has also promised to gut President Biden's climate subsidies
01:34and offer tax breaks to oil, gas and coal producers.
01:37He also could once again withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement,
01:41meaning the US would no longer need to meet set carbon emissions reductions.
01:45In terms of immigration,
01:46Trump has pledged to deport as many as 20 million migrants.
01:50His press secretary recently told Fox News
01:52that he would sign an executive order to secure the southern border.
01:56But Trump may face challenges on this front.
01:59It's been estimated it would cost billions of dollars
02:01to implement his deportation plan
02:03and could shrink the economy by at least 4.2%.
02:06As for Russia,
02:07Trump previously said he could end the Ukraine war in a day.
02:11He hasn't given any indication of how he would negotiate the war's end,
02:14but many predict that a deal between Russia and Ukraine
02:17may be reached before the year is out.
02:19Trump has promised to echo in a golden age for America,
02:22with a party remade in his image
02:24and what he describes as an unprecedented mandate.
