00:00According to the World Health Organization, by the year 2050,
00:05cancer patients may reach more than 35 million.
00:10This is a 77% increase from 20 million cancer cases in 2022.
00:17It's shocking that cancer patients are getting younger and younger,
00:22from the age of 15 to 39 in our country, including Cherry and Kyla.
00:29But experts are still studying this issue.
00:34It's really multifactorial, there are many factors.
00:37For example, in the age of cell phones and everything,
00:41physical inactivity is no longer happening at home,
00:44cell phones, games, no longer playing outside.
00:48So obesity is one of the risk factors for cancer.
00:52So one, sedentary lifestyle.
00:54The others are, of course, processed food.
00:58The processed food, the food we eat now,
01:02the food that came from the market, the food we cook.
01:05And of course, what else? Viruses.
01:08Viruses have already been pinpointed to cause some cancer.
01:13For example, for HPV virus, for cervical cancer, for head and neck cancers.
01:19In 2019, Republic Act 11215, or National Integrated Cancer Control Act,
01:26was passed.
01:27It will provide financial support
01:29so that the medical treatment of cancer patients in the Philippines can be more affordable.
01:35When it comes to cancer,
01:37what usually comes to our mind is a death sentence.
01:44But Cherry and Kyla proved
01:47that it's not the end of the world.
01:50There is life after cancer.
01:54Cherry's view is positive
01:56that after 16 sessions of chemotherapy and 33 sessions of radiation,
02:02one day, she will also be cancer-free.
02:06I'm so happy because I thought,
02:09I thought about what I've been through,
02:12it's so hard, and now I can do it all.
02:15I survived it all.
02:17I'm so happy.
02:18So, can you recover from cancer?
02:21Yes, I can.
02:22I can do it.
02:23We can do it.
02:25We can do it.
02:27I will give it a try.
02:30Cherry's oral chemotherapy is still ongoing.
02:35While Kyla is slowly regaining her energy and strength in her body.
02:41After 6 sessions of chemotherapy and 36 sessions of immunotherapy.
02:49God will exchange that for the good.
02:52It helped me also to bring that hope to others.
02:56And I think now, looking at today,
02:59I'm a living miracle.
03:01For many doctors who thought that clear cell is so difficult
03:07that I only had 6 months to live from 2021.
03:12It's 2024 today, and I'm still here,
03:15trying to also give that hope to others.
03:19Big C if you call it cancer.
03:23Serious illness, not a joke.
03:27But in times of new medicine and technology,
03:31it can really succeed.
03:34Especially if the support of the family and the government is enough.
03:41Cherry, Kyla, and other patients who continue to fight this disease,
03:47I can survive.
03:50Say bye-bye to the oncology unit.
03:53Bye-bye.
