00:00Speaking of the right way and the wrong way, it's boy, this vote in Missouri to legalize
00:08sports betting definitely seems like it's coming down to the wire.
00:12And then we got the note, and I know we talked about this earlier in the week, Pat, I believe
00:14it was Monday, that the ad campaigns have pulled back some of the money.
00:20So naturally when you see this, you think to yourself, okay, what is the reasoning behind
00:25this?
00:26Is this thing going to pass?
00:27Is this why some of these negative ads have been pulled back?
00:30It does seem to me based on the polling that on November 5th, 6th, whatever, it feels like
00:37to me we're going to legalize sports betting.
00:39You're going to see it legalized in Missouri.
00:41It's not a guarantee, but this is sort of the indication that would push me more in
00:45that direction.
00:46Is that fair or no?
00:47I think that's definitely a fair read of the situation.
00:50We've talked about Missouri ad nauseam at this point for the last three years, and now
00:55about this election the last couple of months.
00:58And yeah, I mean, going into it, we've got plenty of ballot polls that say 50 plus percent
01:04of people are supportive, and all it needs is 50.1% to pass on election day.
01:10And to your point, you can never fully predict what's going to happen on election day.
01:14Who knows who comes out and actually votes?
01:17But the signs are pointing to it passing, and that's big news for winning for Missouri
01:22education, the campaign supporting it.
01:24They're backed by DraftKings and FanDuel.
01:27Now what happened is the Missouri Independent reported that the campaign against the ballot
01:33initiative, which is supported by Caesars because they don't like the ballot language
01:37that allows two untethered licenses, which of course would probably go to DraftKings
01:42and FanDuel, polled more than $1 million in ads.
01:46And I think their spokesperson told the Missouri Independent that they had tightened the race
01:54with the ads and they had achieved what they wanted to.
01:57But you've got to think that if you're polling it, you're kind of giving up.
02:01What's interesting is, you know, going through the campaign finance reports and all that,
02:06you see that they paid quite a bit of money for some internal polling to see what the
02:09numbers were.
02:10Now we haven't seen any numbers from this campaign.
02:13So you've got to imagine if they're not releasing it and then they're pulling the ads, you know,
02:17I'm not a political polling expert or political campaign expert by any means.
02:22But those signs kind of point to, oh, maybe we're giving up, because, yeah, you'd think
02:27if the polling numbers were good for them, they'd release them and they'd keep pushing
02:29with the ads.
02:30But here they are pulling them.
02:32So yeah, it's going to be a really interesting race these last two weeks.
02:36Again, it's a huge push by DraftKings, FanDuel and the professional sports teams to legalize
02:42sports betting, something that the legislator hasn't been able to do the past three years.
02:48And if people are truly wanting it, this is their chance to say they want it and get
02:52it off the ground.
02:53So again, you can't really predict what happens on Election Day, but, you know, signs are
02:58pointing to it passing and that's something I'll be watching close on that Tuesday, more
03:03so than, you know, a lot of other races.
