00:28Our President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered dam operators to release water slowly to avoid heavy flooding.

00:39As Prof. Fino said earlier, there are dams here, even in Central Luzon, that are already in danger of spillover.

00:47Yesterday, at the NDRRMC Headquarters, the Situation Briefing was conducted to assess the effects of the typhoon Christine.

00:56Our President ordered dam operators in Luzon to release water slowly before heavy rainfall is expected.

01:05This is to avoid the full capacity of the typhoon.

01:09Our President also said that flooding is a serious problem when there is a typhoon like this, like the typhoon Christine.

01:16That's why, even if the dams are not yet high-level, they should release water slowly.

01:21So that when heavy rainfall comes, there will be an allowance or buffer space.

01:27So the President said, what is the level of water that can be tolerated by the downstream communities.

01:32Release that amount that will not cause damage and will not flood.

01:36So the outflow that can be tolerated, it can be released little by little, but it will not affect the communities.

01:43According to the forecast, some dams are gradually releasing water.

01:48Meanwhile, it was also recorded in the briefing yesterday, the massive flooding in Region 5, in Bicol Region.

01:55But because of the magnitude of the typhoon Christine, other areas were affected.

02:04our President also ordered all concerned agencies in our government to collaborate, to help the local government.

02:12Help the local government units so that the immediate assistance to those affected by the typhoon can be assured.

02:17Our President also ordered the immediate distribution of assistance to Bicol Region

02:22as soon as possible.

02:25That is really the challenge, how to distribute the assistance to the affected areas.

02:30Because the trucks cannot pass, there are roads that cannot be passed.

02:36And rescue boats and rubber boats are the best there because some places are still flooded.
