The 911 GT3 has offered the ultimate combination of racing genes and day-to-day usability since its introduction in 1999. To mark its 25th anniversary, the new model will launch simultaneously in two versions for the first time: as a track-focused sports car with a rear wing and as a more understated version with a Touring package. With tailor-made packages and innovative options, the GT3 variants can be further customised to the customer’s taste and intended use.
Porsche is relaunching the 911 GT3. The exceptionally track-ready road sports car makes its debut in its anniversary year with an expanded lightweight strategy, a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre boxer engine with 375 kW (510 PS) and 450 Nm, and new, highly customer-focused options. The Weissach package, available for the first time in the 911 GT3, offers even more custom configuration options for use on the track. In addition, the sports car comes with more extensive standard equipment and other options that further enhance its precision and sportiness.

00:00So much for history, but now we're looking forward to what lies ahead.
00:05It was not easy for us to make an almost perfect car even better.
00:09That is why we have had an extensive dialogue with our customers.
00:13And the result is here, the new 911 GT3.
00:30The heart of the GT3, it is still as it should be.
00:46A high-revving, naturally aspirated engine, 4 liters, 9000 rpm, 510 hp.
00:53This time, however, coupled to a gearbox with 8% shorter gear ratios,
00:57similar to a 911 ST Special Model.
01:008% shorter gear ratios means more traction in every situation.
01:05But that's not all. The entire car is a little tighter in terms of styling than its predecessor.
01:11With aerodynamic revisions, particularly non-visible ones in terms of the gearbox and drive shaft cooling,
01:18but also in terms of brake cooling.
01:21We see the car here with an option package, the Weissach package, familiar from the RS models.
01:27For the first time now also available in the normal 911 GT3.
01:33Many carbon elements. It starts with the air blades in the front.
01:39And it continues to the mirrors, the side blades of the rear wing and finally the interior.
01:45Magnesium wheels. These wheels alone are 9 kg lighter than the original alloy wheels.
01:51So, now we know what it looks like and what it's got inside.
01:55But most importantly, how does it feel?
02:03The sound, the driving pleasure. Amazing.
02:07It's unbelievable how the car works. Ultra precise.
02:11The 8% shorter gear ratio is definitely great on tight and winding sections.
02:16This makes it even better in the perfect engine speed range, especially in terms of the shock platform.
02:23Here in the curves too. The car absorbs waves really perfectly.
02:29Another huge step forward, especially with the brakes.
02:34You can hardly notice any pitching movements. This is big-time stuff here.
02:40Jörg is in his element in the car.
02:43This may be due in part to the fact that he finds a similar working atmosphere here to that in his racing cars.
02:49We have a new full bucket seat and it has some advantages and gimmicks, which I'll show you quickly.
02:55As soon as I'm on the track, as Jörg is at the moment, I wear a helmet, for safety and for regulatory reasons.
03:02In order to improve ergonomics and simply create more freedom of movement for the head, the headrest can be disengaged up here,
03:10which frees up additional space to ensure a more upright head position with a helmet.
03:15The seat is also foldable.
03:18By pulling a loop here, the backrest can be unlocked, folded forward, and the loading situation for the driver is much improved.
03:26Clear advantage over a fixed shell.
03:31Otherwise, what we see in the interior is the elements of the Weissach package.
03:36Race tags on the dashboard.
03:38We have a carbon interior door handle.
03:42We have a lightweight door panel with a luggage net here.
03:46What a car!
03:48But that's not all.
03:50For the first time in the 25-year history of the 911 GT3, we are presenting two variants of the GT3 at the same time.
03:59Let's set the stopwatch aside.
04:01Let's turn to winding country roads.
04:04Let's turn to the customers who like to drive on Sundays just for fun.
04:10And for them, the GT3 with Touring Package is just the thing.
04:30And here the new 911 GT3 with Touring Package.
04:34The athlete in pinstripes, so to speak.
04:37Slightly more discreet than its winged sibling.
04:40It's still just as track-worthy, but this is more of a driver's car.
04:44510 horsepower, 9000 rpm on the engine side.
04:48In this case, Touring is standard with six-speed manual gearbox.
04:52And optionally also with a PDK gearbox.
04:55We interviewed a number of customers, and there was always one topic that came up in particular.
05:00Please give us a four-seater with the Touring.
05:04We have a rear seat system that can be selected as an option.
05:08Those who want the car even more sporty, even more purist, can choose the Leichtbau Package.
05:13It is very easy to install.
05:16Those who want the car even more sporty, even more purist, can choose the Leichtbau Package.
05:21It is very similar to the Weissach Package, including magnesium wheels that significantly reduce weight,
05:27but also includes other features around the car.
05:29We use leather, partially embossed leather on the dashboard,
05:33and we use textile inlays as seat center surfaces.
05:39The new 911 GT3 with Touring Package.
05:42For me, it's the perfect new 911 for country roads.
05:46And not just for me, I think Walter Röhrl feels the same way.
05:53My job in principle is always to check the performance of the car.
05:57I have to drive fast and make sure that the car is still reasonably easy for the customer to control at the limit.
06:07That's what matters to me.
06:08The new steering is just as direct as the old one, but less nervous coming out of the zero position.
06:16It's very important that the seat holds my body, so that my hands are free just for steering.
06:27Transplanting these genes from a racing car into a production car, just as you would expect from Porsche.
06:35Despite all the regulations that exist, we still have a very compelling sound.
06:40That just gives me this motivation, that feeling that I am sitting in a racing car,
06:46and that just gives me a thrill when I see the tachometer, hear the sound,
06:51and that reminds me of my active racing days.
06:58Driving a sports car, and on the other hand, a completely normal everyday car.
07:03Only Porsche masters this balance, and you can really feel it again with the Touring.
07:15Dear sports car enthusiasts, it's a special moment for me too.
07:18The simultaneous world premiere of two GT3 models.
07:24One more for the track, the other more for the road.
07:27But both offer an exceptional, unique and quintessential GT3 driving experience.
07:34Both are even more emotional, even more individual, and exactly aligned with the wishes of our customers.
07:41For more information, please visit Porsche.com or the Porsche newsroom.
07:46I thank you for your attention and bid you farewell.
07:49Many thanks and goodbye.
