00:00Some families in Quezon City were forced to evacuate due to the sudden flooding.
00:04Rescue operations became a challenge,
00:07especially when people reached other areas.
00:11Louisa Erispe is live in the center of the news, Louisa.
00:16Joshua, the flood hit some areas in Quezon City
00:20after the high tide earlier this morning.
00:23But some residents are still choosing to stay in evacuation centers.
00:31It was past 1 a.m. when the flood began to rise in some areas in Quezon City
00:37due to the continuous rain.
00:39Some areas were even flooded by almost a million people,
00:44like in Barangay Rojas,
00:46where the QCDR-RMO was needed to rescue 112 individuals.
00:52They even used a boat to evacuate the residents.
00:57When the sun rose and the rain stopped around 6 a.m.,
01:03most people evacuated to the evacuation centers of Lungsod.
01:10Like Rosalie, a resident of Tatalon,
01:13she woke up to the flood inside her house.
01:16That's why they quickly evacuated.
01:19Even though the water level in their area dropped,
01:22she did not leave the evacuation center.
01:25I didn't leave because I was afraid of the flood.
01:30That's why I stayed here.
01:32Like in Carina,
01:34when we woke up, the water level was already on the first floor.
01:40The flood level was already high.
01:43There were no more people there.
01:45Maribel did not save a single item.
01:49That's why she can't go home.
01:52That's why she asked for help from the government
01:57while they were in the evacuation center,
02:00especially when they were still afraid of the continuous rain.
02:05We are not afraid anymore.
02:08We are not afraid of the flood anymore.
02:12The flood is really over.
02:15We don't have anything.
02:17We only have our bodies.
02:21It's up to the government.
02:23As long as we can save ourselves, that's fine.
02:28They were kind enough to help me.
02:35My medicine, my food,
02:37because I can't eat well anymore.
02:40I can still feel the pain in my heart.
02:46The barangay officials said
02:48they will not let them leave the evacuation centers
02:51even if the water level is already low in some places.
02:54They will continue to provide help to the evacuees.
02:59The QCDRRMO has not yet declared
03:02that they will return the people.
03:04That's why we are now inviting
03:07those who want and are willing to be evacuees
03:10to our evacuation center in the elementary school.
03:15Meanwhile, Joshua,
03:16some people were able to escape the flood.
03:20Others were able to start cleaning.
03:23Like Nanny Ruby,
03:24who was able to reach her house
03:26when the flood hit the barangay of Santo Domingo.
03:29But even if the weather is bad,
03:31they will not leave
03:33because they are used to the flood and typhoons.
03:37When it suddenly rains for two hours,
03:42it's really a flood.
03:43The people who were left behind are returning.
03:47We are not afraid anymore.
03:49We are used to the flood.
03:52Joshua, as of now,
03:53we are still collecting the data
03:55on how many barangays were flooded in the entire city of Quezon City.
03:58But according to the QCDRRMO,
04:00as of 8 a.m. earlier,
04:02the number of residents who escaped
04:04was almost 2,000.
04:05This number, Joshua, is still possible to increase
04:08because earlier, when we went around
04:10around 11 p.m.,
04:12in one evacuation center,
04:14there were already 1,200 evacuees.
04:17And as of now,
04:18the number of evacuees in evacuation centers is still increasing
04:22because the weather here in Quezon City is still bad.
04:26The truth is, it's still cloudy
04:28and the flood is still ongoing, Joshua.
04:31Thank you very much, Luisa Erispe.
