00:00Donald Trump's campaign has accused the UK's Labour Party of interfering in the US presidential election.
00:06According to CNN, on Tuesday, Trump's legal team filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission
00:11requesting an investigation of the Labour Party's involvement with the Kamala Harris campaign.
00:15The complaint cited a LinkedIn post from Labour head of operations Sophia Patel,
00:19which said, I have nearly 100 Labour Party staff, current and former, going to the US in the next few weeks,
00:25heading to North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
00:28I have 10 spots available for anyone available to head to the battleground state of North Carolina.
00:33We will sort your housing.
00:35According to NBC News, foreign nationals may volunteer in American elections,
00:39but may not participate in official decisions or spend over $1,000 per candidate.
00:43Speaking with Sky News, Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer downplayed the controversy,
00:48saying of the volunteers, they're doing it in their spare time, they're doing it as volunteers,
00:52they're staying, I think, with other volunteers over there.
00:55That's what they've done in previous elections, that's what they're doing in this election,
00:58and that's really straightforward.
01:00But officially or not, there does seem to be a degree of mutual sympathy
01:03between the centre-left party and the Harris campaign.
01:06NBC News says some of Starmer's former advisors have briefed the campaign,
01:10which is presumably hoping for an electoral victory,
01:12similar to what Labour achieved in the UK this past summer.
